Part of Maggie’s lesson yesterday was learning to wait for permission before jumping up onto her owner sitting in a reclining chair.

We use simple cues like “up” and “off” so dogs understand when they’re invited and when they’re not. It helps take the guesswork out of greetings and gives them a calmer way to behave.

Most jumping comes from excitement rather than naughtiness. Once we show them what does work and reward it consistently, they usually pick it up quite quickly.
