Welcome Luna to the Grit & Grace crew! 🩷💚🩷

Don't let the small package fool you. Luna is one intense little lady, especially compared to her much more chilled-out brother, Alfie! 😂

Luna has a particular talent for barking at the TV, making relaxing on the couch a little difficult for her humans!

It's a perfect example of how two dogs of the same breed, living in the same household, can have completely different personalities, drives and behaviours.

We're taking a holistic approach with Luna, laying down the foundations of clear marker communication, handler engagement and purposeful play to give her appropriate outlets for all that enthusiasm.

From there, we'll introduce a clear NO, teaching Luna what we don't want while making sure she understands what we'd like her to do instead.

Because training isn't just about stopping unwanted behaviours. It's about understanding the dog in front of you, providing appropriate fulfilment and building clear communication.

Can't wait to see this little pocket rocket progress! 🩷💚🩷

💗💚 Welcome Remi! 💚💗

This gorgeous Heeler is doing some very typical Heeler things… which can make life a little challenging when his human just wants to enjoy a stroll through the burbs 🫣🤫

Remi and his human are working with Grit & Grace on building clearer communication, stronger engagement and making sure those Heeler genetics get the fulfilment they need.

They’ve committed to our 3-session package to really put in the reps and work towards lifestyle results that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.

The goal? Better loose lead walking, a stronger recall, and helping Remi and his human live their best life together.

Smart dog. Big feelings. Plenty of working-dog spice. 🌶️

🩷💚 WELCOME DUNE 💚🩷

Meet Dune, this gorgeous, energetic 8-month-old Groodle who has joined Grit & Grace with her very committed mum.

We’ll be working on helping Dune switch those listening ears on — especially once she’s out in the wild where everything suddenly becomes far more exciting… hello, birds 😂

Our focus will be:

🩷 Engagement and focus around distractions
💚 Loose lead walking
🩷 Recall
💚 Clear communication
🩷 Building skills that carry over into real life
💚 Making sure Dune still gets to be her fun, energetic self while learning how to work with her mum

She’s a gorgeous dog with plenty of personality, and I’m looking forward to watching this team grow together.

Sick of your dog skull dragging you on every walk?

With some simple changes, you can enjoy your walks again and reduce the need for physio after being towed around by your dog.

Loose lead walking does not mean your dog has to walk like a robot. They can still sniff, explore and enjoy being a dog, while learning to see you, listen to you and stop pulling you from one thing to the next.

Last weekend I was lucky enough to follow up the seminar I attended with Ben Geurts in Perth back in April with another fantastic weekend at the Kaizen K9 Reactivity & Aggression Seminar, hosted by Ryan King OzcorpK9

Over two days, Ben explored one of the most challenging issues many dog owners face: reactivity and aggression. Whether you have a pet dog, sport dog or working dog, living with a dog that struggles in the world can be exhausting, isolating and at times downright heartbreaking.

What I appreciated most was the multimodal approach presented throughout the seminar. Rather than simply focusing on suppressing behaviours, the discussions centred around understanding how the dog feels, identifying the factors contributing to those emotions and meeting the dog's needs on multiple levels to create meaningful and lasting change.

These specialised seminars don't just add more tools to the dog training toolbox. They challenge the way we think, reinforce good practices and ultimately help us become better trainers. Every new concept, conversation and practical exercise gives me another way to help both the owner and the dog in front of me.

A special shout out to the working spots and their handlers who put themselves out there over the weekend. It's no easy feat stepping in front of a crowd, especially when you're sharing such a personal challenge with your dog. It takes courage, vulnerability and a genuine commitment to helping your dog. Everyone there learnt something because of your willingness to step forward.

A big thank you to Ben for sharing his knowledge and to Ryan for hosting another great seminar here in South Australia. It's fantastic to have access to this calibre of education without having to travel interstate ( though I do that too 😂)

The learning never stops, and I'm already looking forward to the next opportunity to keep growing as a trainer.
