Can be a journey that needs to be explored at one point or another in a horse journey.

Very rarely are negative responses resulting in behavioural responses....so ask the questions

“My vet cleared my horse for pain so we are certain it’s behavioral”

Pain is contextual, as Tami Elkayam says.
Pain lives in the brain, and can be manifested differently moment to moment. It can change or present highly differently in different circumstances. Therefore, it is impossible to prove the absence of pain.
Fear of pain, memory of pain, and pain all can present the same to a body in self preservation.

And, it can take endless exploration and specialists to locate the source of pain. One vetting or even multiple may not find it.
Something to think about next time you’re presented with behaviors you can’t understand.
