🎉 QVS North Lakes turns 10 tomorrow! 🎂

Our team celebrated a little early today, sharing plenty of smiles as we marked this very special milestone together.

For 10 years, we have had the privilege of caring for so many wonderful patients and supporting their families. We are incredibly grateful to our local community, referring veterinary partners and dedicated team for being part of the QVS North Lakes journey.

A Dog's Life: Pet Expo is coming to Noosa, and we’re pretty excited to be the Presenting Partner! 🐶

Casper has become a bit of a regular around QVS while having his bandages changed, and he might have just won Dr Fabian Trefny over for good!

Nothing powers our vet team like sweet treats and happy patients, and Casper managed to deliver both in one box! 🐾

We are so proud of Dr Daniel Poletto! 🎉

At this year's European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool, Daniel was awarded the 2026 ECVS Poster Award for Best Small Animal Orthopaedic Presentation - a fantastic achievement for our Surgery Resident.

Daniel presented his research, "Mechanical evaluation of tension band wire configuration resistance to fragment distraction in a tibial tuberosity osteotomy model", completed in collaboration with Dr Guy Bird and Dr Lucas Beierer, with his poster selected for verbal presentation before taking home the award.

Moments like this are a reminder of the dedication and talent we have within our team, and the commitment QVS has to advancing veterinary knowledge and patient care.

Congratulations Daniel, we couldn't be more proud! 🥹🐾

Meet Bentley! 🐾
This cheeky 10 year old Cavoodle came to us after he swallowed a tiny plastic toy, and not just any toy... it was Maui from Moana. 🌺
Unfortunately, even a demigod couldn't escape this adventure!

When Bentley started vomiting and couldn't keep his food down, his family brought him straight to Pet Emergency where our team discovered the toy was still sitting inside his stomach. X-rays also revealed an unexpected finding, Bentley had a bladder full of stones that needed attention too.

With two problems to solve, Specialist Surgeon Dr Lucas Beierer and our Surgery nursing team led by Jordan, removed the plastic toy from Bentley's stomach and cleared around 30 to 40 bladder stones during the same procedure!
Bentley recovered beautifully after surgery, enjoying chicken the very next morning before heading home to his family feeling much more comfortable. ❤️

A little reminder for pet parents, those collectible toys might be fun for kids, but they can pose a serious risk if curious pets decide to investigate. Keeping small toys out of reach can help avoid an unexpected trip to the emergency team.

A huge thank you to Bentley's family for acting quickly and bringing him in when they noticed something wasn't right.
We're so happy to see this brave boy back home and recovering well. 🐶

So honoured to have been part of this year’s Donut Forget Me Day in honour of Jade. 💛
A huge thank you to everyone across our QVS clinics who donated, grabbed a donut and helped Linda and Patrick celebrate Jade’s heavenly 15th birthday while raising funds for RUN DIPG.
More than $8,500 was raised across the fundraiser, which is such an incredible result and a beautiful way to keep Jade’s memory and legacy alive.

Thank you to RUN DIPG for sharing Jade’s story and to everyone who helped make the day so special. 🍩💛

This sweet girl is Bubba, a 10 year old British Bulldog who travelled all the way from Rockhampton to visit our teams at QVS!

Bubba’s journey began in June when she was involved in a dog attack while travelling with her family.

After initially recovering well, Bubba’s family noticed she was becoming increasingly painful and struggling with her mobility. The team at Alma Street Veterinary Hospital reassessed her and recognised she needed advanced imaging and specialist care, leading to her referral to us at QVS.

Our Sunshine Coast Neurology team continued investigating the cause of Bubba’s worsening mobility. After initial CT imaging identified changes in her cervical spine, Bubba was transferred to our Stafford hospital for further advanced imaging with MRI. This revealed a diagnosis of discospondylitis, an infection affecting the bones and intervertebral discs of her neck.

Our Neurology and Internal Medicine teams worked together across both sites to provide Bubba with the specialist care she needed, including treatment for her infection, pain management and supportive nursing care throughout her hospital stay.

Slowly, Bubba’s personality began to shine through. From her first cheeky face lick to seeing her continue to improve at home, it has been wonderful to see how far she has come. 🎉

A big thank you to the team at Alma Street Veterinary Hospital, and to Bubba’s family, for recognising when she needed specialist care and trusting us with her journey. We love working alongside our referring vets to support pets and their families when they need it most.

We are incredibly proud of our intern team!🏆

Last weekend our interns represented QVS at ANZCVS Vet Science Week on the Gold Coast, taking part in the Emergency and Critical Care stream alongside experienced veterinarians and final year residents.

Their hard work, preparation and dedication really paid off, with two of our interns recognised in the abstract prize for their presentations!
Congratulations to Dr Callie Spooner on first place and Dr Jack Berry on second place 🎉

A huge thank you to Dr Rebekah Donaldson for the time, guidance and support she gave throughout this process. Your mentorship has played such an important role in helping our interns grow their skills and confidence.

That's a wrap on the QVS Veterinary Surgeons Conference! 🎉

Last Sunday, we filled the auditorium at the State Library of Queensland, welcoming primary care vets from across the region for a full day of learning, conversation and specialist insights into surgical procedures, all in the name of providing the very best care for your pets.
