Do YOU or your DOG want more space?

Is your dog so cute people keep invading its space and are doing damage to your dog emotionally?
Do what you can before snapping at dogs and people starts.

Look at getting one of these. The one in the picture is a medium and would be good for dogs 12-30kg. Get a small or Large either side of that.
I actually like it way better than leash covers as it gives a longer leash for freedom time but it’s not unmanageable in high traffic areas when you need a shorter leash.
I’ve just liked this product. Not associated with them at all.

They aren’t misbehaving on purpose.
Ask yourself…what need aren’t I meeting?
1. Structure in day
2. Play outlet-tug, flirt pole, ball-at least 2x5mins sessions in a day
3. Using brain-3 min training session-learn a new trick a few times a day or train nice walking, recall etc.
4. Enough rest -forced calm by tether or crate after play-with chewie-the younger they are, the more practice they need at doing nothing. After a good play, tether your dog and give them a chew. They’ll often nap after they finish chewing. Do this after each play and brain session.
5. Exploration-daily adventures-not the neighbourhood over and over anticipating dogs running at fences-that isn’t stress relief AT ALL! . Head to creeks or huge open spaces on long line.
If they aren’t doing enough of any one of these things, naughty behaviour surfaces. Think about what you haven’t done enough of in their day.
Dogs seem to live at either extreme these days. I see dogs who do absolutely nothing and have no outlets or dogs that days are so filled they haven’t learnt to calm themselves.

Dogs energy needs change as they grow too.
Teenage dogs suddenly destroying things have a burst of energy and hormones-up the play sessions, give them boxes to destroy and get them out in nature. Puppies being ratty often need more sleep. Toggle with your PLAY, BRAIN WORK, REST & EXPLORATION to get your calm pooch.

Every dog needs four things each & every day: structure, play, rest, and exploration.

When those needs are balanced, dogs are more relaxed, engaged, and easier to live with. When they’re not, unwanted behaviours often start to appear.

Your dog isn’t being “bad” or deliberately misbehaving—it’s communicating that one or more of its needs aren’t being met consistently enough.

If you are needing help to work out how to achieve that DM the page

Do it! Go play with your dog!

Do it!
Go play with your dog!

A new peer-reviewed study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science followed 858 senior dogs and found that dogs who regularly played, trained, hiked, swam, or participated in other activities with their owners showed fewer signs of age-related cognitive decline. The benefits appeared to go beyond exercise alone, with activities that challenged the brain and strengthened the dog-owner bond linked to healthier brain aging. Dogs that participated at least weekly tended to stay mentally sharper, while lifelong sports dogs had the lowest cognitive decline scores.
That’s important because doggy dementia is one of the most common quality-of-life issues affecting senior dogs. The takeaway? Regular play, training, enrichment, and shared adventures may help keep your dog’s mind younger for longer.

Supporting healthy aging also means protecting the joints that keep dogs active. That’s why Dr. Karen Becker formulated Mobility Matrix™ with science-backed ingredients like UC-II® undenatured type II collagen and eggshell membrane to support mobility and comfort.

If you’d like to explore a science-backed mobility solution for your dog or cat, comment MATRIX and we’ll DM you the link. 🐾✨

Had a session with Maya the Greyhound and her parents today.

It was a great session because it really was about tweaking their days to allow for more play outlet, brain work, decompression and rest cycles to deal with a sudden spike in anxiety. Her anxiety is showing up with more freezing when out and not wanting to go with anyone but Mum. She’s been having issues with particular areas in the neighbourhood as well. She had a pretty good routine happening but it wasn’t actually structured and there wasn’t enough play outlets 2-5min sessions of a day to really bring down her anxiety & biologically fulfil her.

Basically your dog’s needs are:
➡️PLAY OUTLET
➡️WORK-using brain
➡️FORCED CALM
➡️EXPLORATION
If any one of these things is lacking it seeps out behaviourally.
Technically over the next few weeks they’ll be working on how to play for max benefit and long line work and making sure they are getting balance for Maya’s needs.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the results over the next few weeks
