The Crazy Story of Maya! (and why it's important to read this story).
Maya's owners were mortified to find out that while busily getting ready to move interstate, their furfamily member 'Maya' had snuck out. Unfortunately despite flyers, calling all local vet clinics, posting lost ads on facebook, walking around the streets calling out for her and offering a $1000 reward, they weren't able to find her 😿.
Devastated and fearing the worst, Maya's owners moved interstate with Maya's sister who was equally upset at the absence of her sister. Maya's owners never gave up however, still checking for signs of her anywhere they could and offering a reward for her return.
12-18 months later a Good Samaritan found a stray cat, skinny, unkempt and seemingly abandoned. He nursed her back to health over many months and opened up his home to her for 2 years. Recently he noticed this stray cat not doing so well and took her into us here at Greencross Redbank. Hearing his story we scanned her for a microchip and what would you know it was Maya! 😺
The Good Samaritan refused the reward as he was just happy to learn she had a home to call her own. We got in contact with Maya's owners and they were overwhelmed with emotion to learn she had been found some 3 years later and immediately got to booking a flight for the same day to come collect her.
The important messages out of this story are;
- Always bring strays in for a microchip scan
- Make sure your contact details are up to date on your microchip
- Never give up hope 🥰
