IT’S ME, “DIGGER”! AND I’M TAKING MATTERS INTO MY OWN PAWS! 😼📸🪏

Well, if nobody else is going to toot my horn, I suppose I’ll have to do it myself! 🙄 So, I’m sharing this fresh new photo of yours truly, taken this afternoon, because clearly my current advertising campaign needs a little more… “Digger”!

I mean, COME ON! I’m literally waving at the camera 👋 AND poking my tongue out in the hopes someone will finally take a chance on me 👅 If that’s not commitment to finding a forever home, I don’t know what is! 😹

I’ve now had TWO meet and greets, and while I’m flattered people are coming to admire the merchandise, nobody has actually decided to take me home yet 🫠

I’m a handsome, affectionate 8 year old gentleman who has already done his time living in a stormwater drain. Surely I’ve earned a comfy couch, a loving human and a lifetime supply of chin scratches by now?! 🥺🛋️❤️

I’m ready to leave my drain diving days behind and start the next chapter of my life. I’ve done the hard yards, I’ve perfected my camera smile, and I’m practically waving a giant furry flag saying, PICK ME, PEOPLE! 👋

STILL SEARCHING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 🐶🏡💙

It turns out “Winston”, our 5 year old Malamute X Australian Shepherd, would much prefer to be the king of his own castle than share the throne! 👑🤣🐾

“Winston” had a meet and greet this morning with a lovely family who already have a Malamute. Unfortunately, it’s become clear that this big, fluffy boy would prefer to be someone’s one and only.

Although “Winston” previously lived with another dog, we’ve learnt that he can be quite dominant around other dogs. Moving forward, we believe he’ll be happiest as the only pet in the household. Sometimes, you just need to be the star of your own show! 🌟

The good news? “Winston” is GREAT with people and has plenty of love to give! We’re looking for a family who can make him the centre of their world, with no other pets to share the spotlight.

Of course, life with “Winston” comes with a few other considerations. At around 45kg, he’s a BIG boy with working breed energy, plenty of personality and some training to work on. His future owners will need to be experienced, committed to ongoing training, exercise and enrichment, and prepared for the magnificent coat (and magnificent amount of hair) that comes with him! 🧹🐾

🐕 ONLY PET: No other dogs.
🐱 NO CATS: This is non-negotiable.
👧 Preferably no small children due to his size and bouncy nature.

“Winston” has so much potential, and with the right people, consistency and patience, we know he can make a wonderful companion. He just needs a family who understands him, is ready to put in the work, and doesn’t mind sharing the couch with a 45kg fluff monster! 🛋️

“Digger” is still waiting… and I’m really struggling to find him a home 💔😿🐾

This handsome boy has been at the surgery for nearly 3 weeks, and in all that time, he’s had just ONE enquiry 😔

After spending who knows how long living in a stormwater drain, “Digger” deserves to know what it’s like to have a warm, comfy couch, a full belly and a human of his very own 🥺🛋️❤️

I’m having no luck getting this sweet boy noticed, and I really don’t want him to keep being overlooked. He deserves his happily ever after just as much as any other animal who comes through our doors.

Meet “Digger”! 😻🤎🐾

This handsome tabby Manx arrived into our adoption program last week after quite the unexpected adventure. “Digger” is 8 years and 6 months old and was originally found living in a drain in D’Aguilar and was brought to us for ongoing care.

Thankfully, “Digger” was microchipped, so we were able to track down his registered owner. That’s when we discovered this little man had been missing for over SIX YEARS 🙀! Unfortunately, his family were no longer in a position to take him back, so “Digger” is now officially looking for a new chapter… preferably one that involves significantly less time spent living in drains.

We have no idea what “Digger” has been up to for the past six years. Someone has obviously cared for him along the way, as he is a loving and affectionate boy who happily accepts being picked up and cuddled. How he eventually ended up calling a drain home, however, remains one of life’s great mysteries!

Due to his unknown history, “Digger” is currently untested around other animals, so we are looking for a home where introductions can be carefully managed.

One thing we do know for sure is that this sweet boy deserves a loving, safe and permanent home. We need to find “Digger” his new family as soon as possible.

Apparently, Julie was inspired by a certain photo of me chewing through the surgery’s internet cable. I prefer to think of it as my most memorable contribution to the clinic’s IT department 💻🤣🐾

Julie, thank you sooo much for such a thoughtful gift. You are unbelievably talented, and I think we can all agree you’ve captured my handsome little face perfectly!

Now, where shall I hang this? Somewhere I can admire it… and absolutely cannot reach any cables 😏

UPDATE: "Brandy" has been adopted!

At 8 years and 10 months young, “Brandy” the Cattle Dog is ready to trade life’s adventures for a little more comfort, plenty of cuddles and a family to call her own 🐶🩷🐾

“Brandy” arrived into our care last weekend after her owner experienced a change of circumstances. She came from the same household as “Winston”, our Malamute X Australian Shepherd who is also featured on our page!

While we would love to keep these two together, we believe it’s in their best interests to find homes separately. When “Brandy” arrived, it was immediately clear that she was far too skinny, weighing just 15.5kg. We suspect “Winston’s” bouncy, energetic nature may have been making it difficult for “Brandy” to get her fair share of food, as they were being fed together. At her age, this lovely girl deserves the chance to slow down, enjoy her meals in peace and be thoroughly spoilt ❤️

Thankfully, Dr Kristie has performed blood work on “Brandy”, and everything came back looking fine, which was a huge relief! 🩺

👇 A little more about “Brandy”:
Her previous owner describes her as a loyal girl who absolutely loves people, cuddles and attention. In other words, she sounds like the perfect companion for someone who appreciates a little four legged company!

Being an older girl, “Brandy” isn’t looking for a home full of chaos and commotion. She’s hoping for a comfortable place to put her paws up, enjoy some delicious meals and soak up all the love she deserves.

🏡 “Brandy’s” ideal home:
✅ A home without small children.
✅ She may be able to live happily with another friendly dog, provided introductions are slow and steady.
✅ No cats, please!
✅ A secure home with extra care taken during fireworks and thunderstorms. “Brandy” is frightened by loud noises and has been known to escape when scared, so secure fencing and a plan to keep her safely indoors during storms and fireworks are essential.

“Brandy” has already had a lot of change in her life, and we’d love her next chapter to be a happy and comfortable one. She may not be a spring chicken anymore, but we think she’s got plenty of love left to give!

We just had to share this gorgeous photo we received from “Daisy’s” new mum, Melissa! 🥹🌼

Picked up only this morning, “Daisy” has already been busy exploring her new home, zooming around the yard, enjoying a pigs ear, rolling in the grass and discovering her new favourite hamburger toy! 🍔🤣

We think it’s safe to say “Daisy” hasn’t wasted any time making herself at home! 🏡

Sophie and I are absolutely over the moon seeing her so happy already. This is exactly the happy ending we were hoping for our beautiful girl 🫶

Dr Allen has started feeding “Tinker” some of the Prime100 rolls, and apparently, they’ve received five stars from the most important food critic in the family. Needless to say, she absolutely LOVES them!

Big, fluffy, handsome and just a little bit cheeky… meet “Winston”, our 5 year old Malamute X Australian Shepherd who is looking for a family ready to take on a whole lot of dog! 😍🐶🏡

“Winston” arrived into our care a few days ago after being surrendered by his previous owner due to a change of circumstances. Weighing in at around 45kg, this gorgeous boy certainly isn’t short on size, personality or fluff!

“Winston” is a big, goofy sweetheart who loves his treats and toys. He’s VERY treat driven, which is fantastic news for anyone hoping to work on his training! He’ll happily sit for you if there’s a snack involved, but beyond that, he’s not particularly interested in following instructions just yet. Let’s just say he has his own ideas about how things should work! 🤣

We’ve also discovered that “Winston” is quite the water enthusiast. This week, he decided to take himself for a little swim in our back pond. Apparently, a bath is one thing, but a spontaneous dip is another! 💦

As much as we adore this handsome lad, we want to be upfront about the type of home he needs.

👇 THE IMPORTANT STUFF!

🦴 Experienced owners only: “Winston” is a Malamute X Australian Shepherd, a mix of two intelligent, energetic working breeds. These dogs need more than a comfy bed and a daily stroll; they thrive with appropriate exercise, mental stimulation, structure and ongoing training. “Winston” hasn’t had much formal training, his recall isn’t the greatest, and he’s very happy doing his own thing when he feels like it! His new family will need to be committed to investing time into his training, building a reliable recall and helping him learn the ropes.

🐕 Other dogs: “Winston” has previously lived with another dog, but he can be dominant. Any introductions to another dog would need to be exceptionally slow and steady, with compatibility carefully assessed. We’re not looking to rush this process.

🐱 NO CATS: We are looking for a cat free home for “Winston”. He is not suitable for a home with cats. This is a non-negotiable requirement.

👧 Children: Due to “Winston’s” substantial size and bouncy nature, we would preferably like to find him a home without small children. Even when he’s being friendly, a 45kg dog can accidentally knock little ones over!

🪮 The coat: “Winston’s” gorgeous, thick, fluffy coat will require regular brushing and ongoing grooming maintenance to keep it in good condition and prevent matting. His future family needs to be prepared for the hair that comes with a dog like this, particularly during shedding season! A good vacuum cleaner may also become a household essential.

“Winston” has sooo much potential, and with the right people, consistency and patience, we believe he can continue to learn and grow into a wonderful companion. He needs owners who appreciate his breed mix, understand that intelligence doesn’t always equal obedience, and are ready to provide the boundaries, enrichment and training he needs.

He’s a big character with a big personality, and we want to find him a home that’s the right fit for everyone involved ❤️
