We’ve got two lovely patients to brighten your feed today... Humphrey and Fig! 💕

HUMPHREY
First up is Humphrey, a lovely 3yo Golden Retriever who was very excited to visit us! He bounced into the clinic with his tail wagging, soaking up lots of attention and making everyone around him smile 🥰
Today Humphrey had a Grade 2 dental. Thankfully, his owners are right on top of his dental care, so although there was some build-up, particularly around his back teeth, it was caught early and he didn’t need any extractions🦷

FIG
Our second Pet of the Day is beautiful Fig, the Whippet. Fig came in to have a large stifle lump investigated.

Fig was understandably a little shy and anxious in the clinic, but he was extremely sweet. Once he was given some cuddles, Fig seemed much more settled and was happy to enjoy some gentle attention 💕

We loved having both of these beautiful pups visit us today! 🐾❤️

🐾 Blanket Donations Needed! 🐾

Do you have any spare blankets at home that you no longer need? We’d love to put them to good use keeping our patients warm and cosy during their stay with us. ❤️

Any size is welcome, whether it’s a small throw or a larger blanket.

We’re currently well stocked for towels and sheets, so blankets are what we need most right now.

If you have any clean, usable blankets you’d like to donate, please drop them into the clinic. 🐶🐱

Today’s Pets of the Day are sisters Chia and Rogue! These sweet girls visited us today for their dental procedures and were absolute stars.

They’re now back home, relaxing with their four other siblings and enjoying some well-deserved rest and cuddles!

There are a few extra decorations in the background today as we celebrate Dr Rob’s last day with us before his long service leave… although it’s definitely a bittersweet celebration. 🥹🎈

Our Pet of the Day is “Rob”, pictured here with his namesake, our very own Dr Rob Heath - and today’s post is a very special one.

Tomorrow is Dr Rob’s last day at McDowall Vets before heading off on a very well-deserved long service leave break!

As many of you know Dr Rob has built McDowall Vet Practice from a small 2 vet practice into the busy, multi-skilled and advanced clinic it is today. He has been the centre of the McDowall Vet Family and has worked tirelessly to create the warm and caring environment that we all appreciate so much.

His professionalism, knowledge and genuine care for his patients have always been appreciated by our team, but perhaps even more so by his many long-term clients, who consistently speak so highly of him.

We will certainly miss having him around and we hope he enjoys every minute of his well earned break!
Thank you for everything, Dr Rob! 🐾

Meet our darling Pet of the Day, Barney! 💙

Barney visited us today for an ear flush and was such a good boy! He even stayed for lunch with our team and was absolutely lovely company.

Say hi to the A-Team, Arnold & Alfie!

These two handsome boys aren’t related, but they both visited us today for their Grade 2 dental procedures. 🦷

Both procedures went wonderfully, and Arnold and Alfie are now home receiving plenty of cuddles! Well done, boys! 💙

Big Beautiful Boy Bruno visited us yesterday for his desexing procedure. Isn't he super handsome? His procedure went very well, and he is now home resting with his family. Well done Bruno 🥰

Happy International Cat Day from all of us at McDowall Vet! 🐱

Today we're celebrating our feline friends and all the joy they bring into our lives. Whether they're chasing toys, soaking up the sunshine, knocking things off the bench, or curling up for a nap, cats have a special way of keeping us entertained and loved.
We're lucky to meet so many wonderful cats every day, from young kittens to wise old whiskers, and we love caring for each and every one of them.

Everybody say hi to Dougal!

Our darling Dougal visited us today for his dental procedure. We were expecting he might need to have a few teeth removed, but the good news is he only needed a dental clean - a lovely surprise for everyone! 🦷

Dougal was an absolute sweetheart throughout his stay and is such a gentle older boy.🥰

🚩Important H5 Bird Flu (Avian Influenza) Update.

H5 avian influenza (bird flu) has recently been detected in Australia and we’re taking precautions to help protect our patients, clients, team members and local wildlife.

If you have found a bird or other wildlife animal that requires veterinary attention, please contact our clinic before bringing them in. Calling ahead allows our team to provide the appropriate advice, assess the situation and prepare for your visit if required.

🚩What to do if you come across a sick, injured or dead bird:
To help reduce the risk of disease spread, please follow the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s advice below.

- Do not touch or handle sick, injured or dead birds or wildlife.
- Keep pets away from the animal and surrounding area.
- If it is safe to do so, record what you have seen. Include photos, the location and the date.
- Report the sighting to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
