Everyone meet Bronzie.
A sweet boy who has snuck his way into the family.
I'd been on the hunt for a horse who is a little more relaxed than Seibhur, because she is a sass queen who needs a bit more ridden maintenance than my current stage of life gives me.
Then I found his ad. On paper, he sounded perfect and looked lovely. The ultimate gentleman. So I went to meet him.
When I arrived, I saw a sad looking horse standing alone in a dirty paddock with no grass and no hay. They took off his rug and said, “he’s lost a bit of muscle, I haven't ridden him for a while."
I'm glad he wasn't being ridden, but this wasn’t muscle loss from lack of riding. The poor boy just wasn't getting anywhere near enough food.
I left and when I got home told my partner that he wasn’t the one. He was in such bad shape and I just didn’t have the time to take on a rehab case.
Anyway… eight days later, I was driving back there and bringing him home 😂
Skinny horses need careful reintroduction to food to avoid colic (which can very easily be fatal), so its a slow and steady process to do properly.
This was him the day I brought him home, and now 6 weeks later. Still a ways to go, but he's coming along well ❤
And so is his winter fluff 😂
