GROOMING -I am so EXCITED to say it is finally happening! I am opening for grooming from the 04th of November. This will be FEAR FREE grooming, only one dog at a time unless family dogs. The aim is to reduce the stress around grooming for your fluffy family member.

Training Tuesday
How much training/activities does your dog need? This depends on many factors: age, breed, fitness level, lifestyle, home situation etc.
The goal should be to train your dog so they can join your activities. Most dogs do not like to be left alone for long periods of time.
If you enjoy walks teach your dog to walk nicely, and cope with distractions. If you like the coffee shop a mat behaviour will be handy, if you like to visit friends/family or travel socialise well and teach calm when meeting new people and the list goes on.
While some dogs are couch potatoes most are not and need a fair amount of physical and mental activities to be happy. Probably more than what you anticipated, especially teenage dogs.

THEORY THURSDAY
The pet services industry (including dog training, grooming, walking & pet sitting) in Australia is unregulated, meaning there are no rules or laws governing a minimum level of qualification, or code of ethics around professional behaviour.
To keep you & your pets safe, here are some tips when looking for a dog walker or sitter.

Imagine travelling to a new country, with a different culture, and not being able to understand a single word of the language. Now imagine you had a tour guide who could show you around, explain essentials like how the toilets work, and who was patient and kind when you mixed up your pronunciation or forgot the correct protocol for greetings.

Be that tour guide for your puppy.

Puppies don’t speak our language. They don’t know which soft and absorbent surface is best as a toilet and which is designated as a carpet. They don’t understand that if you need to chew something there are only 5 of the 100 objects in the room that are appropriate. They don’t know that children don’t play by pouncing and nipping. But they can learn! Explain to them gently how their new world works. Remind them gently when they forget. Set them up to make it as easy as possible. And if they get it wrong, teach them gently again tomorrow.

TRAINING TUESDAY - time

Sharing your life with a pet dog takes time.
Time for the basics: food, health care, grooming & exercise.
Time for training.
Time for socialisation.
Time for problem solving.
And, perhaps most importantly, time to co-exist.

Younger animals typically have higher energy requirements & are still 'learning the ropes', so can take much more time. However of course dogs through all life stages deserve time.

Highlights on social media of a fabulously fun & well-behaved dog is only the tip of the iceberg. There's tpically been lots of dedication behind the scenes to ensure we meet the needs of our pet dogs, and as a result, very happily cohabit.

Of course a pet dog is worth it. But don't discount the importance of time if you're considering a pet.

So excited to have an exotic vet that I get to work with daily. Dr Luci will be definitely getting to see my 2 ratbag macaws for their checks.

Meet Dr. Luciana and her pet turtle 🐢 , Erlich.

Erlich is a species known by several names at the moment - Jardine river turtle is the common name but the scientific name is now Emydura Subglobosa Angkibaanya. He is classified as a critically endangered species and was thought to be extinct in Australia in 1989, but was found again in the wild in 2014. They are found in northern QLD and south PNG and after a very long search, Dr. Luciana has found him a girlfriend and hopes to help regrow this beautiful species' population levels.

We are so excited to have Dr. Luciana on board with us and are very excited to learn more about many exotic species. 😍

If you know anyone with exotic pets, let them know to come in and visit! 🦜🐁🐔🐢🐍🦎🐠
