Socialising your dog isn't just about meeting other dogs...
It is also about taking them to spend time around people, kids, other animals... and helping them be confident but also help them know that they are safe and can be calm.
Milly is 7 and you can see in the photos she already has this calm confidence. We also took Teddy the 1yr old Golden Retriever x Cavalier to Plot 4504 Market Garden to practise being around kids, parents, horses and goats, helping him to know he is safe and learn how he can be calm around it all too.
Of course the kids loved him and all wanted to pat him and we made sure he felt OK about it and they approached him properly too.
This is something to start doing with your dog from the moment they get their final vaccination.
I do recommend starting somewhere that isnt too busy and building it up each time. Plus Teddy has already previously socialised with kids so I knew he would be OK with "more" then what I would if it was his first couple of times.
It was great seeing his face when he first spotted a goat too 🤣
Thanks Plot 4504. It was a lovely morning enjoying a coffee with my friend and her daughters and being able to bring the pups as well.
