Overstimulated dog parents, this one's for you!

If you've been following Bentley for a while, you'll know he needs to know EVERYTHING that's going on. Cafés, small dogs, people walking past… he wants in on it all, and sometimes he just can't switch off.

So when sent us their Comfort & Calm drops, I was keen to see if they'd help him settle, and surprisingly, it WORKS! Just seven drops help him go from overstimulated Bentley to the demure version of Bentley.

The most important part for us: it's non-drowsy. Bentley is my service dog, so he needs to stay alert to monitor me. He's still 100% Bentley, just calmer (as you can see from the birds test 😆).

Comfort & Calm is made with Australian native bush flower essences and formulated right here in Queensland, our home state in Australia.

Use code BENTLEY15 for 15% off. And if you don't see a difference within 30 days, Pet Relief will send you a different blend to try for free with their Right Product Guarantee.

Rating my Gold Digger’s digging styles at the beach.

You all know I named Bentley the Golden Digger because of his obsession with digging in the sand lol.

He becomes an absolute menace every time I take him to the beach, and I can’t relax without him kicking sand all over me.

So when sent me their toppers, I was super keen to try their Calm Topper on Bentley at the beach, to see if it could help him settle around the sand so we could actually enjoy the beach together!

Calm Topper is made with real chicken collagen and real ingredients, with L-Tryptophan and chamomile to support calmness. And honestly, a calm pup means calm dog parents too 😉

Use code BENTLEY15 for 20% off the CPK Calm Topper. They also do Brain, Joint, Skin & Coat and Immunity. Check out their website to try it 🫶

Last week I finally shared the story behind Bentley being my assistance dog, and it was published in The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times and WAtoday. I still can’t quite believe it.

Seeing such a private part of my life in the news is scary, but it’s also freeing. It took me 18 months of intense therapy to be brave enough to end the pretending phase of my life.
I know I look perfectly normal from the outside. I’ve had autoimmune illness since I was a kid, and even though it took almost 40 years, I finally found out I have PTSD, autism and ADHD. Everything made sense after that. It explained why living had always been so hard for me.
Growing up in an extremely abusive family made things even more complicated. I finally found out why I can’t stand in a packed lift, an underground carpark or a dark place. One of my punishments as a child was being locked in the bathroom with the lights off and that’s where the PTSD comes from.

Having Bentley out in public in his jacket hasn’t been easy either. Some people ask me outright why I need an assistance dog, or they assume I’m training him for someone else. Because I look fine.
What they don’t see is how he gets me through life. He calms my anxiety before it turns into a panic attack, he grounds me before sensory overload turns into a mental breakdown, and he can even alert me to my blood sugar changes, which he started doing all on his own.

I shared my story because finding out I could have an assistance dog didn’t come easy. It’s not on a pamphlet anywhere and I had no idea this was an option for me, and I didn’t feel worthy of one either. I thought assistance dogs were only for people with visible disabilities, and that the dog had to come from an organisation.
Then I found out I could train my own. Bentley passed his public access test with MindDog Australia, and my life changed in a way I never could have imagined 🧡

So that’s us. And if you have an invisible disability too, nice to meet you. You’re not alone 😊

Thanks Neesh 💋🐝 for telling our story
