Buckle up, there’s a lot to unpack here 🫠
This one’s been a long time coming. I’ve watched this space get flooded with brands playing the same tired games, and figured it was time someone actually said something about it.
There are plenty of well-disguised dropshipping seat cover brands here in Australia, running constant fake “sales”, often with inflated reviews, poor stitching, weeks-long shipping times, and no real quality control or customer support behind them.
It’s sadly gotten to a point where its genuinely hurting small businesses like us. To the point where when I’ve try to market to new customers, we seemed to get lumped into this dropshipping category and have people incorrectly assume that we too dropship cheaply made off-the-shelf products. A lot of people are now highly skeptical of this product category, because they’ve been burnt so bad by other brands in the past.
Now, is there any inherently wrong with dropshipping? It’s not inherently wrong, but everybody has different thoughts.
However the reality is, most of what you’re paying for is shipping fees rather than the product itself, because each product is shipped individually from overseas.
As a consumer, you deserve to know the difference between paying for a product that has actually been designed and developed by a brand… vs paying a premium for something selected from a catalogue.
And you for SURE don’t deserve to be subjected to predatory, misleading, and outright deceptive marketing tactics. This is the main thing I take issue with as a business owner.
I hope this helps someone out there become better equipped to spot sneaky companies like this, and make the right choice for themselves and their dog.
