Check out Gover enjoying his party cup forager!

To use this toy, fill the cups with shredded paper or cardboard and hide your bird's favourite treats!

This toy is most recommended for smaller birds than Grover such as conures and cockatiels.

Welcome to spotlight Sunday, this week we will be looking at pyrrhura conures.

Pyrrhura conures are the smallest members of the conure family and there are s several different species.

The most common by far is the green cheek conure which comes in several colour mutations.

In addition to the green cheek, other commonly kept pyrrhura conures include crimson bellied, pearly, rose crown, blue throat and maroon bellied conures.

One thing all these species have in common is that they are relatively low noise in comparison to larger conures.

Although they may be quieter though, doesn't mean they are easier. In fact, they can be more difficult to manage in some ways. Many owners underestimate the personality of these birds thinking they will always be sweet and cuddly, when in reality they can go through hormonal phases where biting and moodiness increase. These phases can be lessened through diet modification, adjusting sleep time, providing extra enrichment and training.

They can definitely make excellent pets but understanding and patience must be there as these birds are often rehomed for being "aggressive"

Hey everyone! We have some super exciting news! Our friend Rob will be hosting art classes starting this Tuesday the 23rd in Brisbane from 7-9pm. Cost is $110 with all materials provided. The class is aimed at beginners or people with limited knowledge on working with acrylics.

I'm super excited to learn to paint and hoping to gain the skills to paint my flock 😍 if you're interested you can book online at the scrumptious reads page. I would love to meet some other local bird parents and do something fun together ❤👩‍🎨🐦

Hi everyone, I'm putting a call out to see if anyone can help me get in touch with any wildlife protection organization's in India?

I recently joined an Alexandrine and ringneck parrot group on Facebook called "Alexandrine & Ringneck parrots group worldwide"

There are 25k members in this group. I assumed it would be like most other groups where people share cute photos of their pets and ask for advice. I have been horrified by the fact that people are posting images of distressed birds in cramped cages, sometimes a whole group of illegally wild caught chicks crammed in a cage while people discuss the price.

The sale of native wildlife is Illegal in India. While it can be argued that many people just aren't award of the law.....is there really any point in having a pet if they're just going to live in such horrible conditions? People in this group wonder why their bird plucks when it's blatantly obvious it's due to being confined to a small space with no enrichment.

I thought about having everyone report this group to get it shut down, but it's not going to help stop what's happening to these poor birds ☹

If you know anybody involved with wildlife in India or which authorities to contact and report people please let me know ❤

I did some foraging today around our land at Mount Glorious. I collected a variety of pinecones, macadamia nuts and some blue quandong.

The blue quandong is a native Australian Bush fruit which also grows in several Asian countries. It has been a big hit with the birds!

I personally haven't tasted yet, should I?? Have any of you tried it?

I wasnt aware that wild foods and natural branches were so great for our birds until our vets recommended it and also from how commonly practiced I saw it was here in Australia. As far as I'm aware, collecting natural branches, flowers, pine cones etc for pet birds isn't commonly practiced in Canada or the US and not really something people think of doing.

The birds go crazy for it though! If you live near a park or forested area, recommend finding out which plants are safe for your bird.
