Ear mites! That’s another one I haven’t seen in a while! Our AI ear camera flagged this one for us to look at, very cool! Luckily these are easily managed thanks to our isoxazoline treatments as well!

Demodex mites! Mange! Not one we see nearly as often any more. Once upon a time they were a real scourge of North Queensland and we were kept very busy with their management, but the latest generation flea & tick medications have all but made these cases dissapear from our hospitals!

This handsome boy Shaun suffered an iliopsoas tear at the beach last night. It’s a somewhat uncommon injury, that we only tend to see in greyhounds & other exceptionally athletic working dogs. It causes sudden exquisite pain in the groin and lower back. After getting fully checked out to rule out any other concurrent issues, Shawn has had a healthy dose of pain relief, so you can see he’s a bit zonked. He will be on bed rest by doctors orders for quite some time before being allowed to catch a case of the zoomies again.

Oodles of danger noodles! Baby browns are hatching at the moment so vet clinics are seeing lots of bites across northern Australia (you may have seen posts from more than one clinic this week!). Please be aware they are about, and if you see or suspect your cat or dog may have been bitten, get them prompt medical attention. Earlier antivenine is far more effective, and leads to much higher survival rates, so be prompt with your actions!

Poor Ted copped a stick in the chest last week while he was working. Luckily it bounced off his ribcage and didn’t travel deeper!
