🐾 Meet Mia 🐾

Three year old daschund Mia first visited us in April after developing a sore front left leg. Radiographs revealed an increased space within her shoulder (scapulohumeral) joint, indicating an injury, but thankfully no fractures were present.

After discussing treatment options, we placed Mia in a splint that was carefully replaced each week for three weeks to support healing and keeping her comfortable.

Following her treatment period, repeat radiographs showered a significant improvement, with the gap between the humerus and scapula reduced, confirming that the injury had healed 🌟

This meant that no further casting was required, and Mia was able to continue her recovery without additional intervention.

We’re so proud of this brave little patient and grateful to her family for their dedication throughout her treatment journey ❤️‍🩹

Why are cows always chewing? 🐮🌱

Cows are ruminants, which means they have a specialised stomach with four compartments designed to break down tough plant material. After eating, they bring partially digested food back up to “chew the cud”.

Basically, they’re just enjoying their meal twice 😁

Back on all four paws 🐾💜

Lucy recently underwent TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Levelling Ostetomy) to repair a torn cruciate ligament - one of the most common orthopaedic injuries we see in dogs.

During surgery, the top of the tibia is carefully reshaped to stabilise the knee joint, helping reduce pain and restore mobility.

After rest, rehabilitation and recovery, Lucy has now returned to her regular zoomies 🌟

If you notice limping, difficulty standing, or reduced activity in your dog, it’s always worth getting them checked early ❤️‍🩹

Not every treasure hunt ends well 🗑️🐾

Winnie got into the rubbish bin at home and swallowed a ball, requiring emergency surgery to remove it. The foreign body was able to be identified on radiographs, allowing our team to quickly diagnose the problem and get Winnie into surgery.

The procedure was a success and she’s now recovering well ❤️‍🩹

A reminder to keep household rubbish secure and always supervise pets around small objects - if it fits in their mouth, there’s a chance it could become a dangerous snack!
