On the 7th of March, we headed to the Proston Show. It was wet, cold, and right before the major rain event—but rain, hail or shine, the show must go on, and we’re so glad it did!

“Pl***oy” picked up 3rd overall in the Open Horse Challenge. With placing 3rd in the dry work and equal 1st in the utility.

“She’s Stylish N Smart,” a Peptos Stylish Oak mare, finished 2nd overall in the Junior Horse section. Hanna will have “Smartie” coming up for sale shortly if anyone is looking for a well-started mare to go on with.

Our whole team performed brilliantly, and we couldn’t be happier with the progress each of them has made!

After a fun weekend of drafting the week before, we then headed to the Bell Show & Campdraft, where we worked on starting some horses in the Challenge arena.

Open Challenge
4th overall- “Branchvale Pl***oy Style”
6th overall- “Oaks Madonna”

Futurity Challenge
2nd overall- “JB Chis My Valentine”

After a big day on Saturday, we backed it up Sunday with a few runs in the Maiden Campdraft. While we didn’t post any big gated scores, Lachlan had a cracking cutout for a 23 on “Pl***oy.” They just fell short in the cutout run-off, but for only his second Campdraft start, we couldn’t be prouder of him!

I’m Just Lucky’ added another impressive yard score with a 22. This was also Lucky’s second start, and we’re excited to see what these boys continue to achieve.

Our first draft of the year was held at Burrandowan from the 20th to the 22nd of February. It was a great weekend, with quality cattle that made it fun to start some young horses while also giving the more seasoned ones a good run.

Lachlan ran the Novice A cutout off on our mare, “Oaks Madonna,” who is currently for sale. They just fell short, but we were still very pleased with her performance nonetheless.

Our little superstar, “Jb Chis My Valentine,” had her first start in the Futurity Draft, scoring an 88 to finish equal 3rd–6th. We’re thrilled with this RS Chisum mare and can’t wait to get her out and about more this year.

A huge thank you to the committee for running such a great event—we hope to be back again next year. And of course, congratulations to all the winners and placegetters!

Happy is a short coated, medium size bitch that has a good clean nose bite. She has worked weaners through to cows and calves where she will either balance or work with you. Not suited for sheep but would handle rougher cattle work.

Pete is a medium to long coated dog that is still growing and showing he will be a good size dog. Pete is silent and balancing up nicely, he has been on sheep a handful of times but mostly worked weaners and young cattle. Great work ethic, even worker, good influence on stock, good herding ability and has some bite.

Abby is a short coated, leggy bitch that is a great traveler (goes all day) and has a friendly nature.
Abby is good on weaners and heavy / numb cattle but has worked all kinds. She has grit and likes having plenty to do.

All dogs surplus to my needs at the moment and will be an asset to someone else’s team or operation. All good to community feed, quiet in the kennel and are easy to have around.
