📣Meet Dr Sam Singleton📣

Dr Sam Singleton is CCAT (Certified Companion Animal Therapist) and provides expertise in rehabilitation programs designed to help dogs and cats recover from injuries, surgery and musculoskeletal conditions.
Every pet is different, and rehabilitation should reflect their individual needs, abilities and goals. A tailored program can help improve strength and mobility, support recovery and help pets gradually return to their normal activities.
Rehabilitation can also be beneficial beyond recovery, helping pets maintain their mobility and quality of life as they get older. Our goal is to support your pet through every stage of life — from helping young pups develop, to keeping adult pets fit and flexible, and helping our older companions stay as comfortable and active as possible.

We are very fortunate to have team members who are passionate about helping our patients live their best lives. One of our wonderful team members, Renee, has been an important part of providing rehabilitation care to our patients and holds the CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner) qualification, reflecting her specialised training in canine rehabilitation.
While Renee will be leaving us for now, we are incredibly grateful for the knowledge, care and dedication she has brought to our team and the patients she has helped along the way. We certainly hope this isn't goodbye forever and would love to welcome her back in the future!
In the meantime, our commitment to helping your pets move comfortably, recover well and enjoy the best possible quality of life remains as strong as ever.

If your dog is holding the leg up completely, crying in pain, has swelling or heat, or the leg is in an obviously abnormal position, seek veterinary care promptly. ⚠️

If mild lameness hasn’t improved after a day of rest, it’s also time for a vet visit. Early assessment helps us treat the cause and keep your dog comfortable. 🩺

For mild, short-lived tummy upsets, a bland diet may help some dogs and cats. 🐶🐱 Boiled, skinless chicken breast or lean white fish with plain boiled rice or pumpkin are easy, gentle options. Feed small, frequent meals rather than one large serve, and gradually reintroduce your pet’s normal food over a few days once symptoms settle.

These home-prepared diets aren’t complete and balanced, so they should only be used short term and ideally under veterinary guidance. 🥣

If vomiting is repeated, diarrhoea is severe, appetite is poor, or your pet seems unwell, please book a vet check promptly. 🩺

Probiotics may support gut health, particularly after antibiotic use, during stressful periods, or for pets with sensitive tummies. 🦠 Not every pet needs one, though, and quality varies widely between products.

Look for a veterinary-specific probiotic with documented strains and an adequate viable colony count, rather than a human product. 🐾 If your pet has ongoing digestive issues, a probiotic isn’t a substitute for investigating the underlying cause.

Supermarket ‘pet meat’ is often labelled ‘not fit for human consumption’ and isn’t produced to the same food-safety standards as meat sold for people. 🥩 It can carry a higher risk of bacterial contamination and, in some cases, contain sulphite preservatives that can cause serious thiamine deficiency in cats and dogs. ⚠️

If feeding raw meat, choose human-grade options, and store and handle them carefully.

Kibble is convenient and cost-effective. Some specially formulated dental kibbles can help reduce plaque and tartar, but standard dry food shouldn’t be relied on to clean your dog’s teeth. 🦷 Wet food isn’t essential, though it can help boost hydration or tempt fussy eaters. The most important thing is choosing a diet labelled ‘complete and balanced’ for your dog’s life stage. 🥣
