🐾 Meet Chloe! 🐾
Introducing this absolute sweetheart, Chloe! She’s a Maltese cross Shih Tzu who recently hit the jackpot by finding her forever home through the RSPCA.
Starting fresh with a rescue dog is a beautiful journey, but it also comes with its unique hurdles. Because we don’t know much about Chloe’s past, her previous home, or how much positive social exposure she’s had, her new mum reached out for some guidance.
Chloes' new guardian had noticed that she can be a bit reactive when she sees other dogs, which is incredibly common for pups navigating the life of a rescue dog.
To help her feel safe and comfortable around different stimuli, we are taking a structured, thoughtful approach.
📋 First step - Identify triggers
Before we dive into a full training regimen, we need data! I’ve asked Chloe’s mum to keep a log of:
🐾What triggers her (dogs, sudden noises, specific movements)
🐾How close the trigger is (distance matters!)
🐾Her body language signals (stiffening, barking, looking away)
By tracking these moments, we can build a tailored behaviour modification plan to safely shift Chloe’s emotional response from "anxious/reactive" to "calm and confident" using positive reinforcement.
Change doesn't happen overnight, but with a dedicated guardian by her side, Chloe is in the best possible hands.
