Meet Roy! 🐾
Say hello to Roy, who recently had big surgery for a tricky knee problem with Dr Will. Roy was diagnosed with lateral patellar luxation with patella baja — essentially, his kneecap was sliding out of its groove on the outer side of his knee, and it was sitting unusually low, making everything more complicated.
We staged the surgery and tackled both knees, doing a tibial tuberosity transposition (TTT) and sulcoplasty on each leg. In plain terms: we repositioned the tendon attachment on his shinbone to pull the kneecap back into line, then deepened the groove the kneecap sits in so it tracks smoothly.
Why stage it? Roy needed time to heal and relearn how to use each leg before we did the other side — doing both at once would have been too much for his little legs to cope with.
Roy has been an absolute superstar through it all — brave, patient, and spoilt rotten by his family during recovery. 💛
He is now well on the way to recovery and absolutely kicking goals with his physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions — we couldn't be prouder! 🏊♂️💪 We can't wait to see him bouncing around at full speed again soon. Big well done to Roy and his amazing humans!
