What happens if you “point up” during a two-day competition?

Great question—and one we get asked a lot!

If you’re currently riding at e.g. Level 4 and enter a two-day competition, but you only have 1 or 2 points left before moving up, here’s what you need to know:

👉 You must enter the competition at your current level (Level 4).

👉 If you gain enough points on Day 1 to move up to the next level (Level 3), your points will revert to the base points for that new level.

👉 See “Event Rules 22.4” for how to update your card with base points.

👉 For Day 2, you are required to ride at your new level (Level 3).
So what should you do next?

✔️ Notify the organising committee as soon as possible
✔️ They will try to accommodate you in the new level
✔️ If that’s not possible, you can request a refund or
✔️ Ride HC (hors concours) at your original level

HRCAV Helmet Standards Update – Effective 1 January 2027

Edit - Tags will be sent to all taggers when the colour has been determined. EA tags will be accepted.

The HRCAV will introduce revised helmet standards from 1 January 2027 to align with updated international safety requirements.

The key change is the inclusion of the new harmonised European standard EN1384:2023. Helmets must comply with one or more approved standards (AS/NZS 3838, ARB HS 2012, ASTM F1163, PAS 015, VG1, EN1384:2023, or Snell E2001/E2016) to be eligible for tagging.

Helmets meeting older, withdrawn standards will no longer be accepted after 31 December 2026.

From 2027, compliant helmets for disciplines that require tagging will be identified with a new coloured HRCAV tag, issued only by approved HRCAV Helmet Taggers.

Members are encouraged to check their helmet labels and ensure compliance ahead of the transition. For further details, contact [email protected].
