Happy Fathers' Day to all the dog dads!

Lottie knew something was different this morning with the rustling of wrapping paper. Never one to miss out, she jumped up on Tristan for some lazy morning cuddles, even though she's not usually allowed on the couch. Special days have special privileges 😉🥰

I loved our photo session with Darcy after his first big boy haircut today... he was so happy and excited! You really get an idea of his energy in these pictures, and the laughter and joy he brings to his household 🤣🥰 Little man is off to puppy graduation tonight👨‍🎓, even though mum humorously said she doesn't think he'll pass. Check out the difference a good wash and groom make to Ziggy! She is a farm girl, so naturally gets nice and grubby while she's running with the horses and at the beach (lucky girl), but a good hydrobath, scrub and groom out later and she's squinting in the sun as she's almost blinded by her own whiteness 😅🥰🥰

These big beautiful brothers were in for a bit of a spring prep this week. I wanted to pop a pony's saddle on Ziggy, he is one of the biggest labradoodles I've ever met and every ounce the gentleman, whereas Wolfe was a big ole softy, who would have been happy to give me his paw for treats all day 🥰

Lottie, my french bulldog, loves the grooming area and always wants to check it out when there are no clients in. She likes to jump up on the table for a mini groom (a cuddle and pat), but opening the door to the crate and making herself comfortable is something new for her. Funny dog 😅🥰

Ok, so, time for the before and afters of Rosie. Remember in the video how she looked wet? You could see the knots clearly. Now, have a look at her dry and fluffy! Looks lovely, right?!

But we know what's hiding under that fluff, so we had to do the clip shorter than ideal but ideally keep her comfortable and happy without too much dematting.

You can hardly see the areas underneath that had no option but to go super short, but thankfully, she's not super short all over.

This clip should grow out nicely in the 12 weeks until we see her again. Mum has promised to start brushing more regularly, starting with this knot free coat so that Rosie enjoys her grooming sessions even more 😍

(Oh, and the blue thing on her head is called a "happy hoodie", used to keep her calm and keep the noise quieter while we use the turbo dryer. It's kinda like the ear protection I use while drying dogs 🙉😁)

I took this quick video after Rosie's bath and towel dry to show you what matting can look like when a dog is wet. On intake, Rosie's family knew that she had some knots and were keen to have a longer clip, about half off, but not as the expense of her comfort. Rosie looked fluffy and in good condition, but when we got her wet, it showed the real picture of her coat condition.

My job...to keep her comfortable and happy while keeping her clip as long as possible. I wasn't going to clip her super short just because of these knots! A good wash and turbo dry and stay tuned for the before and after photos...
