Bega Beef Co-op would like to present the Bega Veterinary Hospital with a Certificate of Appreciation, for supporting the Bega Beef Co-op recent petition The survival of the Bega Saleyards, by providing a place for the community to sign the physical petition boards.
Bega Beef Co-op recognize the long service to the Bega Valley and surrounding regions.
Peter Alexander and I presented the Certificate to Dr Luke Dawson, Matt Weston and Sophie Brocklesby.
The Bega Veterinary Hospital (Bega Vets) can trace its origin back to Dr Peter Royle who was brought to the Bega Valley by Bega Cheese in the early 1950's. Peter was soon joined by his younger brother Straun and together they built up veterinary services that stretched to the north of Tilba, west to the Monaro and south to the Victorian border.
Bega Vets now operate from a purpose-built veterinary hospital in Bega, in addition to a well-equipped office in Cobargo. Bega Vets is a multi- veterinarian practice and is one of only two practices on the Far South Coast of NSW that provides a genuine 24-hour service to clients and visitors to the Bega Valley. (Treating small and large animals)
Finding a veterinarian "after hours" is becoming increasingly difficult in many country towns in rural Australia, and we are extremely fortunate to have Dr Luks Dawson and Dr Nicky Patrickson dedicated to running and providing such a service.
The Bega Veterinary Hospital is a general mixed animal practice with a large staff of veterinarians, highly qualified veterinary nurses and admin staff and provides a broad range of services.
The Bega Veterinary Hospital recognizes the importance of having the Bega Saleyards close to Bega. The saleyards generate a large number of local jobs both directly and indirectly and has a muli-function that cannot be underestimated. Without this essential community asset many cattle would be needlessly trucked great distances.
