Meet the team… Samuel has been with us as a Veterinary Nurse since late 2020

Samuel didn’t always know he wanted to work with animals, as his first studies he had undertaken was in IT. Halfway through he realised IT wasn’t for him and decided to swap to animal studies as he had always had a close connection with animals.

While on placement for animal studies he found a hidden love for the medical field, specifically working with animals. Once starting his training in Vet nursing he found a passion for dentistry and later on in his career found an increasing interest in medical cases from first seeing the patient, to diagnosis, to treatment.

Samuel has one cat and one dog, Lotus and Annie. Both are rescue pets from work that were definitely not foster fails. Both have unique stories with Lotus (the cat) having only 3 legs and Annie having major surgery while she was young for her hip dysplasia.

Samuel likes to play guitar and relax with video games in his free time as well as watch performing arts and concerts on the odd occasion.

Meet the team … Alanah has recently joined the Golden Plains Animal Hospital team as a veterinary receptionist.

Growing up in Bannockburn, Alanah has always had a soft spot for animals. She has always loved having animals around and knew from a young age that she wanted to eventually work with them.

Before joining the veterinary industry, Alanah worked as an Ambulance 000 Call-Taker, where she worked in a busy emergency environment and developed an interest in the medical side of things. After leaving 000, she knew she still wanted to work in a role where she could help others but wanted to follow her love for animals.

Alanah has three dogs who are a very big part of her life — Lottie, her Maltese Shih Tzu, and her partner's dogs Ned and Pearl She loves spending time with them and is usually happiest when she’s surrounded by her dogs.

Her love for animals has inspired her to continue pursuing a career in animal care, with hopes of building her knowledge and experience within the veterinary industry. If she could choose any dog to add to the family one day, it would be a Bernese Mountain Dog!

When she’s not at work, Alanah enjoys watching movies, spending time with her dogs, and catching up with the people closest to her.
