After almost 9 months with us, Pikelet has finally found her special person.

Pikelet now spends her days dutifully building a nest for her fake eggs, trying to steal her human's food, taking baths in the sink (without permission), and lounging around getting as many cuddles as she wants.

From an abandoned baby to loved completely 🫶

Adopting a pigeon doesn’t just give one pigeon a loving home. It also opens up a space in rescue for another pigeon in need, meaning adopting saves another life, too.

Not currently a pigeon that matches what you're looking for? Fill in our adoption expression of interest form and, if approved, we will contact you once a suitable bird becomes available: https://forms.gle/bg2vo2XyGq8hfwUQ7

“There’s a pigeon walking around the carpark missing their wings and tail.”

This little pigeon was found with almost all of the feathers used for flight completely removed.

There weren’t the usual other signs you’d see with a predator attack. The wings hadn’t been clipped with scissors. The flight feathers looked like they had been pulled out from the base.

I honestly can only speculate as to the cause. I do worry human involvement may have played a role. But whatever happened, this little pigeon was left frightened and vulnerable.

To all the people who helped them before they came here, thank you.

Their feathers will grow back with time.

Feeling safe will take longer.

For now, they just need to be somewhere gentle, where they can experience a little kindness without being asked for anything in return.

The pigeon videos that are set up each day so they feel calmer while in quarantine. The location of their cage - up high, in the warmth of the morning winter sun, with a great view of the street. The slow, intentional movements to avoid further stress.

They've been here for a little bit now, and each day seems a tiny bit easier for them than the last.

Please send this little baby your love 💟

(Pigeon owners: Please share photos of your pet pigeons using technology. Bonus points if they are chaotically walking across your keyboard while you’re trying to work.)

Peanut's Pigeon Project will be temporarily closed to new intakes.

This isn't a decision I've made lightly.

The reality is that Peanut's is a tiny organisation and right now resources are tight.

Pigeons are hard to find homes for. Many birds remain in care for months or even years. This takes time, resources, and limits the space I have to help more birds.

In the last 8 months, I’ve personally covered 58% of our costs. Sadly, this isn't sustainable long-term.

Messaging on this page will be turned off for a little bit to allow me to focus on the birds already in care and formulate ways to move forward. I can still be reached via email.

Adoptions are still open, and more birds will be listed soon. If you know anyone looking to welcome a pigeon into their home (whether as an indoor companion or an aviary bird) please let them know about us!

This isn’t goodbye - just a moment to breathe to ensure Peanut's can continue helping pigeons sustainably.

I will continue to post updates about the birds in care, including some recent new additions. I'd love if you stuck around for the ride 💖

Don’t let your pigeon’s photo end up on a milk carton. Get them a leg band.

All of the rescues get a custom band with my mobile number, because they're pigeons, and pigeons love terrible decisions.

Whether your bird lives indoors or outdoors, things can go wrong. Suddenly, your buddy is trespassing in someone's backyard.

Pigeons: Smart enough to navigate hundreds of kilometres, but capable of flying directly into a window.

So, you know. We can't always rely on their internal GPS.

A leg band can be the difference between your bird coming home and becoming a mysterious new member of someone else’s household.

And if you find a banded pigeon, please check for a number! You might just reunite someone with their missing little friend - and free up a rescue space for a bird who actually needs one.

It's the end of the financial year which means we should introduce two of our resident pigeons: Tax Evasion and Tax Deduction.

The tax sisters had a rough start, being removed from underneath solar panels at only a few days old and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, they've since grown into happy pigeons ready to take on your finances with two very different approaches.

Like the straight and narrow? Tax Deduction is your girl. Receipts neatly filed. Spreadsheet colour-coded. She knows your myGov log-in details and she’s ready to use them.

Prefer a more adventurous approach? Tax Evasion can help with undeclared cash-in-hand jobs, shady offshore accounts, and one-way tickets to tropical islands without extradition agreements.

Despite differing professional philosophies, the sisters get along well. They have even acquired boyfriends who tolerate their finance-related nonsense.

Disclaimer: Neither sister has a legitimate qualification. Their suggestions should not be taken as financial advice. Please see an accountant (who isn't a pigeon) if you need assistance this tax season.
