Late update of Flynn at Woady Horse Trials 🐴✨

Flynn is really turning into Mr Consistent, putting forward another double clear and finishing in 3rd place! 🥉

He has now placed 5th, 1st and 3rd in his last few competitions, and I’m so proud of how much more mature and rideable he is feeling each outing.

The dressage felt much better to me — more controlled, relaxed and settled — although maybe a little too relaxed for the judge this time. He still received a respectable score, just a little lower than I was hoping for. The dressage phase will definitely be our focus over the next few months, and I’m hoping we may be able to step him up to 2* at some point next season.

He found the show jumping and cross country super easy, and travelled so well across country, which is always such a good feeling. 🏇

Flynn also headed to Ballarat Pony Club’s show jumping competition yesterday in the Open B Grade and jumped two lovely rounds, finishing 2nd overall. It was a great opportunity to get more exposure over spooky tracks locally.

A big thank you to the organisers of both competitions — everything was run so well. 🙌

We had a new arrival yesterday after his long trip down from QLD 🤎

A big welcome to Belrieve Pretzel.

Pretzel is by Spectre D out of Belrievevale Bubbles, bringing together Australian Stock Horse versatility with showjumping warmblood lines.

After flying up to QLD, I had the chance to get to know him over two days and enjoyed riding him straight away. He is still very young, so he’ll have a quiet six months at home to develop confidence and strength before heading out to his first competitions next year.

I’m passionate about bringing on young horses correctly, so I’m excited to see how Pretzel develops ✨

Ted update! 🧡🐴

I’ve been getting some lovely updates on how Ted, Nawarrah Park Spot The Fox, and his new young rider Zahra have been developing their partnership.

Today they had their first competition together, and what a fantastic success! 🥰

After producing Ted over the past six years, it’s really special to see him in such a wonderful home, doing exactly what he does best. Giving confidence, showing a young rider the ropes, and helping someone else start their own journey with him.

Finding the right match is such an important part of the process, and I couldn’t be happier seeing these two already building such a lovely partnership.

I’m sure they’ll be flying around some big tracks together in the future. So proud of them both! ✨

Beautiful day to be back out coaching at Woady Yaloak Equestrian Centre!

It was a big day with both cross country and showjumping lessons. I used plenty of pole work to test the horses’ and riders’ accuracy, balance and nimbleness.

I’m a big believer that gymnastic work is key to producing clear, rideable rounds — whether that’s showjumping or cross country. It’s all about creating better adjustability, confidence and accuracy.

Flynn had a fantastic run around the cross country at Woady Yallock Equestrian Centre on the weekend 🐎💨 Taking everything in his stride, he felt confident and rideable the whole way around, finishing with the WIN 🥇🔥

Thanks to Smythesdale and District Pony Club and Smythesdale ARC for putting on a fantastic competition 🙏👏 I felt especially spoiled being able to come home and not have to drive far at all. The venue looked amazing and everything ran like clockwork.

It felt unusually quiet having just the one horse, but Flynn was brilliant all weekend ✨ He was super quiet in all three phases and perfectly behaved, which was the main goal. He is really coming along in leaps and bounds, feeling more and more experienced with each competition.

His dressage test could have been a little more polished and a touch more forward, but it scored reasonably well and was nice and relaxed. Showjumping was great, and cross country was a calm, confident ride around the beautiful green hills of Woady Yallock Equestrian Centre 🌿🐎

He took out the win in the Open 1* 🥇 and hopefully we can repeat that performance in the 1* when we are back here in a month.

🔍 Looking for Young Eventing Prospect 🐎

Now that Ted has begun his journey to his new home and new adventures, I am starting the search for a new member of the team to produce and bring on.

Looking for a quality young eventing prospect to produce through the grades, with the aim of progressing to 3*/4* level and ideally with scope for 130+.

About me:
Experienced rider with experience breaking in and producing young horses. Background in training and sales, currently coaching regularly.

Looking for:

Gelding preferred
15.3 to 16.2hh
3 to 8 years old
Trainable brain and good attitude
Correct type with good movement
Must show a natural jump and genuine suitability for eventing

Happy to consider green or recently started horses. Not after a beginner ride, but something sensible and willing to produce.

📍 Based in VIC, happy to travel for the right horse
💰 Budget flexible depending on quality

I’ve been getting quite a few questions about whether Ted would suit a younger rider or teenager — and honestly, that’s a tricky one for me to answer since I’ve done everything with him over the past six years.

What I can say is that he’s never been strong to jump and is happily ridden in a snaffle across all three phases. This morning he had a light gymnastic session focused on relaxation and responsiveness to the half halt. The video shows him popping around smaller fences, ridden one-handed and coming back to me easily.

Hopefully this gives a clearer picture of how he goes, but as always, every horse feels different depending on the rider.
