Over the next month we will be undergoing a new computer system. Please make sure you are patient with all staff as we navigate through these changes. We will endeavour to make sure that everyday running of the hospital will be impacted as little as possible. This means that some days we may be less available than we would like, but we will do our best to maintain the utmost care and attention to all patients. Thank you for understanding.

Attention Rabbit Owners!

The NSW Government will be releasing rabbit Calicivirus strain (RHDV1-K5) through the first week of March 2026. This is to help control the wild rabbit populations through the Illawarra and Greater Sydney Area.

Your Village Vet recommends to keep your rabbits safe by Vaccinating or checking if your rabbit is due for booster vaccinations before March 1st 2026.

Rabbit Calicivirus spreads easily through biting insects (Mosquitoes and Flies) also through any contaminated surfaces or grass. Indoor rabbits are also at risk, by owners simply walking through contaminated grass or bring in grass that has been exposed to wild rabbits.

Calicivirus attaches the liver and is often fatal.
Common Symptoms include:
* Lethargy
*Loss of appetite
*Reduced feacal output
other systems may included pale gums, difficulty breathing, nosebleeds, or bleeding from other areas.

Vaccinations can be give as a single vaccination from 10 weeks of age; an annual booster should be given every 12 months for life.

For vaccinations or to check vaccination status please call us on 42855210.
