🐴 May Health Check Month

With the recent rain and fresh green pick coming through 🌾, we’re already seeing an increase in sand colic.

As the weather cools, now is the time to make sure your horse’s teeth and stomach are in check—so they can properly chew, digest, and get the most out of their feed.

📸 Here’s a recent health package in action with Dr Alice—completing a dental and identifying sand accumulation on radiographs. This mare has now been treated for her sand accumulation and is feeling great, ready for the year ahead.

A (very) belated social media introduction to Will!

William Height BSc DVM graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2023 before completing an internship at Avenel Equine Hospital in central Victoria, where he gained valuable experience in both surgery and medicine. During his internship, he was recognised at a national equine veterinary conference for his research on septic joints in foals – an incredible achievement early in his career.

Will joined Baldivis Veterinary Hospital in February 2025, so many of you will already know him well! He is currently completing a Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice (Equine Surgery & Orthopaedics) through the University of Liverpool, continuing to build on his strong interest in surgery and lameness.

We’re very lucky to have Will on the team and thought it was about time we gave him a proper introduction!

Huge congratulations to you and the whole team — it’s been great watching the stable grow and seeing all the hard work pay off.

We’ve really enjoyed watching your journey and are happy to be part of it. The care and attention you give every horse is a credit to you and the team.

Also a special mention to Dr Rob Davies and Dr Will Height who are always there to help and make sure the horses are getting the best care — even after hours.

👋 Hello & goodbye to Angus Muir 👋

As our last breeding season wrapped up, it also marked the end of Angus’s time with the Baldivis team. Angus joined us for the season and quickly became a valued part of the crew. Many of you may have met him along the way, and both clients and staff appreciated his positive attitude, hard work, and readiness to jump in wherever needed.

In a relatively short time, Angus made a big contribution to the team, and we’ve truly enjoyed having him with us. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re excited for his next chapter as he heads off to England with his partner ✈️🇬🇧

This is very much a see you later, not goodbye — and we hope to welcome him back to Baldivis again in the future.

Thanks for being such a great part of the team, Angus, and for all your work this breeding season! 🐎💙

Cheeky has officially wrapped up a very mischievous December and couldn’t resist one last photo with the incredible BVH team before heading back to the North Pole.
