🐾 Even the tiniest deserve the best. 💙

Meet Layla, a tiny 3.8kg Chihuahua who needed surgical treatment for a knee injury.

At first glance, you might wonder how it's even possible to perform a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) on a patient this small. Take a look at the X-rays the tibia is approximately the size of a single tine of the fork placed alongside it for comparison!

Yet, with meticulous planning, precision and the right surgical expertise, a TPLO is possible even in the tiniest of patients.

At our practice, we strongly believe in TPLO as our preferred surgical treatment for appropriate patients with cranial cruciate ligament disease. We don't believe a patient should automatically receive a less-preferred procedure simply because they're small.

Of course, every patient is unique, and the right procedure must always be determined on an individual basis. But being tiny shouldn't mean having fewer options.

🐾 Small patient. Big commitment. No compromise on surgical standards.

Well done to Layla, and congratulations to Dr. Stephen and the Advanced surgry Team on another technically demanding procedure!

We love our pets, and we know how hard it can be to say no to those pleading eyes, extra treats and those “but I’m still hungry!” faces.

But carrying extra weight isn’t just about how our pets look. Being overweight can put extra strain on their joints, heart and organs, increasing the risk of conditions such as diabetes and arthritis, and make everyday activities like walking, grooming and playing more difficult.

The good news? Even a small amount of weight loss can make a meaningful difference.

Our goal is about finding a healthy weight that helps them move more comfortably, stay active and enjoy a longer, healthier life.

If you’re unsure whether your pet is carrying a little too much, please chat with our veterinary team. There is no judgement only support.

Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is love them enough to say “no more treats… for now!”
Healthy weight = healthier, happier pets.

Meet Dozer, a very adventurous 13-week-old American Staffordshire Terrier who recently found himself in a rather tight situation!
This curious little guy somehow managed to get his head stuck in a tyre rim and quickly discovered that getting himself out was going to be a little trickier than getting himself in!
With Dozer needing some serious help some amazing firefighters, came to the rescue and carefully removed dozer from the tyre rim.
Thankfully, after his very unusual adventure, Dozer was reunited with his relieved family and his sister.

At just 13 weeks old, Dozer has already mastered the art of getting himself into trouble… now he just needs to work on getting himself back out!
A huge thank you to our local firefighters for helping our little four legged adventurer out of a very tight spot!
