Outing the ‘Out’ AGAIN!
There is absolutely nothing that frustrates me more than someone having been told their horse is ‘out’.
If you have engaged a practitioner for your horse and they have told you that your horse is ‘out in the poll’ or ‘out in the sacroiliac joint’ they’re either uneducated and don’t have the understanding of anatomy & physiology that they should, or they’re disrespecting you by not wanting to explain it properly.
If your horse is truly physically ‘out’ you are likely needing a Vet, and potentially a backhoe.
Generally what is going on is a restriction in your horses skeletal structure caused by tendons and muscles pulling tight in one direction and not allowing the joint to function to its full range of movement or capacity.
This may have occurred through (eg) trauma, incorrect gear, or stress and the body has become stuck in a loop of restriction of function.
A well trained professional can recognise, treat and re-test this restriction of function to address the issue and if unsuccessful, they should be able to refer you to another practitioner (an Osteopathic Vet or Chiropractic Vet) who will be able to help your horse.
Please dont EVER settle for being told your horse is ‘out’!
