CONGRATULATIONS AUSSIE ANIN
Our super nurse is now an Australian citizen. Anin came to us nine years ago and we are very lucky that she decided to stay with us. Anin is originally from Brazil. Anin is actually a qualified lawyer but she wanted to become a veterinary nurse because she loves animals so much. Anin is one of the smartest nurses on the planet. We are privileged to have her on Team Treendale. Dr Rob has tried to get her to go to Vet School. Anin speaks multiple languages, has incredible veterinary knowledge and is a legal expert. She is the heart and soul of our culture. We are so proud of her. We let her have an early mark today to go to her Australian Citizenship ceremony. Congratulations Aussie Anin ❤️

Read what super nurse Anin Badra has to say about working at Treendale Pet Medical. Anin has worked at Treendale for nearly nine years….

Anin
I’ve been at Treendale Pet medical for nearly 9 years now. There are quite a few things I really like here, as someone who wants to have a fulfilling career. The first one is how much nurses are not only allowed, but encouraged to do here. There is a very real culture of utilising the most of our nursing team’s skills – We have a kennel hand for the brunt of the cleaning and a dedicated reception team – so I get to do nurse stuff!
There’s also a lot of incentive and support to further study, and we’re encouraged to find our niche and enjoy being great at it. With everyone focusing on their favourite parts, work is a lot more fun.
I like being taken seriously – the treatment is done in conversation with nurses and when I advocate for patient, I’m never worried I’ll be dismissed even if my suggestion is not taken. I also found that speaking up is encouraged, at the end of the day, we all care about our patients, and our fervour comes from that. If you can back your opinion up, it will be taken seriously. If your ideas for a change/improvement of a system are good, then we change.
I am paid above award and for every minute of work – which makes me feel respected. I never have to worry if staying back to help on an extra busy day is to my detriment or feel taken advantage of.
I really like being proud of what we can offer. Fancy machines, less common treatments, advanced surgeries, a beautiful hospital. It is easier to take pride in the work you do when you got the right tools and environment and a team willing to go the distance.
I really like that there are always snacks. I bring snacks to share, so do others. The clinic always has some too. And I mean, I like sugar, but I love the camaraderie of sharing baked goods and feeling cared for when you had a tough day and the cupboards are never short on the exact cookies I like. That Lu makes the caramel slices I love when the week looks busy, that Cat enjoys eating my popcorn, that Nicci shares her chicken’s egg… Just the loveliness of caring and being cared for. The people are some of the best parts – there’s a lot of joking, and laughing, and making someone a tea after a tough case. I’ve given and received many hugs, and I feel genuinely cared for.
The building is new, but the clinic is pretty old. We have so many clients who have been coming here for decades, and that kind of loyalty and trust makes for some wonderful warm-and-fuzzy client interactions.
I think this is a place where hard work, loyalty and skill are recognised and rewarded. Like, your efforts are not a waste of time and what you want to get good at gets nurtured. I’ve never expressed wanting to practice or learn a skill and not have that be immediately fostered, guided, allowed to have a go. Even when I get stage fright, I’m cheered on.

TONIGHT ON LATE NIGHT LEGENDS
Dolly was rushed to Treendale Pet Medical with abdominal distension and tympanny, severe abdominal colic, desperately attempting retrograde peristalsis in an effort to relieve her discomfort and due to severe distress was also trying to BOAS herself. These rare and impressive overindulgences are usually the domain of our Labrador friends. Dolly loves a good challenge and will throw caution to the wind. We took an X-ray which confirmed bloat from gastric overload and gas distension. The dry food upon which she had feasted had started to swell. The abdominal discomfort makes brachycephalic dogs panic and in their anxiety they swallow air (aerophagia) which makes the bloat worse as the stomach fills up with air. As the stomach stretches the oesophageal opening becomes so stretched nothing can get out…a bit like stretching the opening of an untied balloon. Dolly was trying to vomit as the stomach distended but was unable to empty the stomach. As the pain and anxiety cascades the brachycephalic dogs become quite distressed and start to panic. As they panic and gasp for air they start to get swelling of the larynx called laryngeal oedema. This phenomenon then causes them to have trouble breathing. Thankfully Dolly’s stomach had not begun to twist. We were able to induce emesis emptying her stomach and Dolly deflated and no longer looked like a puffer fish that had expanded. Dolly has had her medical emergency resolved and has gone home to her loving family. All’s well that ends well. Your best friend is our world

K-LASER FOR ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL
Bailey is a Great Dane with a neck problem. Super nurse Anin has been giving executive care with K-Laser therapy to our patients today. Reginald is a dachshund with an intervertebral disc problem. He currently doesn’t need surgery as long as he doesn’t develop neurological symptoms. Laser reduces pain and inflammation and the back spasm associated with severe back pain. Both patients enjoyed their therapy. Having laser is very soothing. Some animals even start to fall asleep it feels so nice. K-Laser can be used for many things including joint pain from arthritis or back pain from intervertebral disc disease or nerve root pain. Tag a friend that needs help or please share. Have you met our new vet?
Dr Lada has been working in London for the last three years. She really wanted to move to Australia. Lada is highly intelligent and has an outstanding work ethic . She worked extremely hard to study for and pass the Australian Veterinary Exams. She passed with flying colours at her first attempt. We have been very impressed with her knowledge, work ethic and team work. The feedback from our clients is glowing. Lada has a very gentle bedside manner and she really knows her stuff. Dr Rob is super impressed. It is wonderful for us to have a highly skilled female veterinarian. Welcome to Australia and Treendale Pet Medical Dr Lada
