🤔 Quick question for our community...

Would you be more likely to support our Impact Partnership model if you could contribute ANY amount towards the outcome that matters most to you?

When we launched Impact Partnerships, supporters funded an entire outcome.

Things like:

💉 A parvo vaccination
✂️ A desexing procedure
🏥 Emergency veterinary treatment
🐕 A complete rescue journey

While some people love that approach, we've heard from others that they'd prefer something more flexible.

So we're exploring a new idea.

Instead of funding an entire outcome, you could choose the impact area you care about most and contribute any amount you like.

For example:

🐛 Stop parasites
💉 Fight parvovirus
✂️ Break the cycle through desexing
🐕 Support animal rescue
🏥 Fund emergency veterinary care

Your contribution would join others in a dedicated impact 'bucket'.

Once that bucket reaches its target, those funds are used to deliver that outcome.

That means funding is already available when a dog needs urgent treatment, transport to safety, or preventative care during a community visit.

No waiting, and scrambling to find the funding. Just funds to help ready when it's needed.

It's been a big couple of weeks at Remote Animal Assistance, and we wanted to share two updates that remind us exactly why your support matters.

Karleh and her puppies

Today, Karleh's puppies boarded their flight to Brisbane to continue their journey with AWLQ.

Before travelling, the puppies had a small setback after developing coccidia - a common intestinal parasite that can cause diarrhoea in young puppies. Thankfully, it was picked up early, treated promptly and all pups are doing much better.

They've now arrived safely and will receive the remainder of the veterinary care they need before finding their forever families.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in getting these little ones to this point - our incredible foster carers, veterinary teams, transport volunteers, flight partners and everyone who donated towards their care. It truly takes a village.

As you may recall, Karleh had an emergency vet visit where she ended up staying in veterinary care for a few nights. She is still receiving treatment but is doing well under the guidance of the vets and the watchful eyes of her foster carer.

Alfie

Many of you have been following Alfie's journey after he arrived from Bamaga with a badly fractured leg.

Following specialist scans, it was decided that Alfie would need his injured leg amputated. It was a long surgery, and vets found muscle growing on bones from older other fractures but it all went well! Alfie is now recovering comfortably with his foster carers and adjusting well to life on 3 legs.

These are the stories we love sharing - but these stories don't happen without support.

🐾 JEFFREY PUPDATE 🐾
You may remember Jeffrey, who is now living his best life as Blinky. 🧡

We recently received an update from his forever family, and it absolutely made our day.

Blinky now spends his days sun-baking, exploring the dog beach across the road from home, snuggling on the couch, and making sure he knows exactly what his humans are doing at all times.

Like many dogs who have experienced hardship, he's still building confidence and working through some anxieties. But his family says the progress he's made since coming home has been incredible.
The biggest milestone?
Blinky has officially completed his heart worm treatment and has now been formally adopted. To celebrate, he was treated to a well-deserved steak. 🥩

His family recently saw some photos and footage from when he was first rescued and reflected on how many people played a role in getting him from the streets to where he is today.

From rescue and transport, to foster care, veterinary treatment, and adoption - it truely takes a village.
Today, Blinky has everything every dog deserves:
🐾 A forever home
🐾 A loving family
🐾 Endless cuddles
🐾 Beach adventures
🐾 More beds than he knows what to do with

For years, many of our supporters have asked the same question:
"How can I help prevent suffering before it starts?"

Today, we're excited to launch a new way to do exactly that.
You can now fund specific prevention outcomes delivered during our Community Prevention Visits.

Instead of donating to a general appeal, you can choose exactly what you want to fund:
🐛 Stop Parasites - $25 funds one month of parasite protection for a dog in community
💉 Fight Parvovirus - $85 funds a parvo vaccination delivered during a prevention visit

Simple.
Practical.
Measurable.

These are the same prevention tools that help keep dogs healthy, reduce suffering, and support communities to care for their animals before rescue becomes necessary.

Our first campaign using this new model is our upcoming follow-up visit to Pormpuraaw.
Every outcome funded means more dogs protected while we're on the ground.

🐾 From a holiday in Cape York, to leading a system of long-term improvement of animal welfare in Far North Queensland

As a teenager visiting remote communities across Cape York, our founder Jess saw a dog with a badly broken leg, painfully thin and caring for a litter of puppies somewhere nearby.
She wanted to help.
But there was no simple solution.
No nearby vet. No rescue service. No easy way to get that dog the care she needed.
For years, it was easy for her to assume the problem was a lack of care.
The reality was much more complex.
Distance, cost, access to veterinary services and limited resources. Barrier after barrier stood in the way of helping animals in need.
That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become Remote Animal Assistance.

Today, RAA tackles animal suffering in remote communities at all stages - saving lives today AND protecting them for tomorrow.

We do that through:
🐾 Rescue and rehoming pathways for dogs in crisis
💉 Vaccinations, parasite prevention and desexing support
🤝 Community education and engagement
🚗 Working alongside Councils, Rangers, Animal Management Officers and veterinary teams

Because rescue is still important, but lasting change comes from preventing suffering before it starts.

That's the future we're working towards, one dog, one community and one step at a time. 🧡

Urgent update on broken leg Bamaga boy‼️

UPDATE: TARGET REACHED! Thank you everybody 🎉🎉🎉

This boy flew into care on Thursday night, and his awesome carer has since named him Alfie.

Alfie went to the vet for xrays and pain relief on Friday, where it was discovered that he has experienced THREE broken legs in his time.... 🤯😭

His left hind leg has two separate injuries - the most recent being a fracture to his tibia which has happened within the past three weeks. He also has an older and mostly-healed fracture in a different area on this same leg, which has resulted in significant shortening of the leg.

His right hind leg has also sustained a fracture to the tibia / fibula at some stage, but fortunately for Alfie this healed well.

This poor dog has experienced THREE major injuries from three different incidents 😭

But THIS is where his bad luck can end! 🤞

With your help, we can fundraise to amputate his left hind leg and give him a new lease on life.

This will cost $2,500 and can be done on Monday if we raise the funds in time.

This is a brand new target - separate from the $2,055 already pledged , which has already been spent/allocated as follows:
$550 for his flight from Bamaga to Cairns
$120 first vaccination
$60 food and preventatives
$450 flight to Brisbane for rehoming

And the remainder covered his x-rays, consultation and pain relief yesterday.

So we need to raise another $2,500 by 8pm Sunday night for his surgery to go ahead on Monday morning.

🐾 Odie's Happy Ever After 🐾

Little Odie Schnitzel, as he's affectionately known in the Davis household, certainly made himself at home during his time in foster care.

Odie came into care during our Hope Vale Community Prevention Visit after an unfortunate run-in with a cat resulted in him being surrendered into RAA care. He arrived with a sore eye, but after just a few days in foster care he was already improving in leaps and bounds.

Since then, he became part of the family, joining surrogate Mumma Tilly, little Franklin, and big brother McLaren, who all helped teach him the ropes.

He discovered the joys of digging holes in the backyard, chasing tennis balls, and collecting what seemed like a thousand chew toys. After a busy day of adventures, his favourite place was curled up on a human's lap, and he was never shy about letting everyone know when cuddle time was overdue.

With the cooler weather arriving, Odie also discovered a love for wearing little jumpers. He approached every day with endless curiosity, cheekiness, and a remarkable talent for finding mischief wherever he could.

Last Wednesday, Odie made the trip to our rehoming partners at AWLQ and was listed for adoption on Friday.

And guess what?

By Saturday, he had already found his forever family.

After everything he's been through, Odie's wait for a home was incredibly short.

From Hope Vale to a loving forever home, Odie's journey is complete.
