🐾 An easy way to help us raise funds this weekend - without spending a cent!

Our friends at MyGivingCircle are running their GiveBack Weekend, and they’re donating $1 to Remote Animal Assistance for every vote we receive.

The best part?

Access changes everything.

In many remote communities, routine vet care is not routine.

Distance, cost and seasonal access all play a role.

When vaccinations and desexing clinics become consistent, we see change.

Puppies’ health improves, litters reduce and communities stay healthy.

That’s why our mission focuses on strengthening systems, while still responding to crisis when needed.

What if your everyday spend could create real impact?

☕ Your weekly coffee budget
→ Could protect a dog from ticks, fleas, mites and worms for a full month

☕ Your monthly coffee budget
→ Could help fund a flight to get a dog out of a remote community and into care

These aren’t big, one-off donations.

They’re small, consistent contributions, linked to clear, measurable outcomes that allow us to be more proactive in our approach to animal welfare in FNQ remote communities.

Why do we sometimes fly dogs into care instead of driving them?

It’s a question we get often, and it’s a fair one.
On the surface, driving might seem like the simpler or more cost-effective option. But the reality is - it depends entirely on the dog, the location, and the urgency of the situation.
In Far North Queensland, some communities are many hours, or even days away by road.
If a dog is unwell, injured, or highly stressed, that kind of journey can make things worse.
Long hours in a crate, heat, stress and delays in getting them to veterinary care.

In some cases, it’s simply not appropriate.
So how do we decide?
If a dog is close enough and stable, we will absolutely drive.
But if a dog needs urgent care, or the distance is too great, we will fly them into care.
We work with airlines and pet transport partners to move dogs from community to a foster carer.

Puppies are especially vulnerable.
If they remain in community too long, they are at high risk of contracting diseases like parvovirus, which can be fatal.
Getting them into care quickly allows us to:
• Quarantine them for 2 weeks
• Start treatment early, if there are signs of disease or injury.

This isn’t about choosing the cheapest option.
It’s about choosing the right option for the dog.

You can help get them there.

$400 - Gets an Animal into Care ✈️🐾
Ensures an animal from a remote community can reach the care they need by funding:
✈️ A flight into care
🛻Or two essential road journeys

When transport is funded in advance, and on a regular basis, we can say yes faster.

And getting there sooner can make all the difference.

UPDATE: 2 X German Shepard types have been taken in by Mareeba Animal Refuge ❤ Updated cost: $660

⚠ These girls have well overstayed their due dates so we need to move fast and get them out tomorrow if we’re going to help!

TRC (Tablelands Regional Council) has reached out asking if we may be able to assist with three dogs currently in their pound. While these girls aren’t the usual type of intake for RAA, when we have the capacity, we like helping where we can and we think these girls deserve a second chance.

The dogs needing assistance are:
🐾 1 x Bull Arab girl (approximately 12 months old)
🐾 2 x long-haired German Shepherd type girls (approximately 18 months old)

We're asking for PLEDGES to:
1. gauge if this is something that the RAA community wants to support and
2. work out if this is financially possible

Estimated costs per dog include:
🐶Supplies (food, bedding etc.) – $60
🪱Preventatives - $80
💉Vaccinations – $120
✈️Flights/transport – $400

🛎️ Total estimated cost: $1980

If you would be willing to pledge towards helping these girls, please comment below or send us a message. If enough support is there, we would love to be able to step in and help these dogs start fresh. 🧡

🐾 Meet the Team – Cecelia 🧡

We’re so excited to officially introduce Cecelia, who has joined RAA as our Operations Manager.
Cecelia is already playing a huge role behind the scenes in managing our rescue operations and contributing to our preventative outcomes, and we’re very lucky to have her.

🌴 A true FNQ local
Cecelia was born and raised in Far North Queensland and has strong connections to a number of remote communities through both family and work.
She’s always had a love for dogs, especially community dogs and has owned two herself, both strays from FNQ communities.

🐾 From foster carer to Operations Manager
Before joining RAA, Cecelia fostered more than 15 animals since 2021.
Stepping into this role was a natural next step, turning that passion into something even bigger.

Now, she’s involved in everything from:
• Community visits
• Rescue coordination
• Admin and logistics
• Supporting our communications

🐶 Meet Dundee
Cecelia now has a puppy named Dundee (an RAA rescue of course).
Her best quirk?
She “moos” like a cow when her sleep gets interrupted 😂🐄

🧡 What she loves most
“Being surrounded by people who genuinely care… and seeing a dog make it to safety, then watching their journey through foster and beyond.”

✨ A moment that stuck
On just her second day, Cecelia coordinated the rescue of five puppies from a remote community.
A big start and a clear sign she’s exactly where she’s meant to be.

🤝 What stands out in community
“The willingness of people to help. There’s always someone who will step in, point you in the right direction, or lend a hand.”

Please join us in giving Cecelia a warm welcome 👇 🧡
We’re so excited for what’s ahead.
