Home visit: CINNAMON

This week, I got to work with Kelpie "Cinnamon." Cinny has been fixated on the farm buggy, getting overexcited and darting in front of it every time the owner starts it up. They’ve tried putting her in the passenger seat, but she just scrambles to jump out and runs right back in front, making it impossible to get any farm work done.
During our one-hour session, we taught Cinny to stay calm around the buggy moving nearby and to remain in the passenger seat when asked. That single hour made a world of difference compared to her previous behavior! Now it’s time to go pick some apples together, Cinny!

Dutchfield has been asked by the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup to provide Dog Handling Skills training for the Rangers! Pretty excited about this! I'm working on my presentation (understanding dog behaviour, approaching and engaging with dogs, handling equipment and techniques) as well as hands-on training /practical session. The Controlled Walk course focuses on teaching your dog to follow your lead so you can enjoy walks together without being pulled around. Over three weeks, we’ll work on walking in sync, loose-lead training techniques, understanding mental versus physical barriers, leash handling skills, and rewarding good behavior. The goal is for your dog to be aware of your movements and direction, staying relaxed and comfortable on walks, making them less likely to react to other dogs or distractions like traffic, kids, or skateboards. In the end, you’ll be guiding your dog through the world—not the other way around! The course costs $90 for three weeks, with 50-minute sessions each week.

After completing the Manners course or a similar course, and if you would like to continue training your dog, then this is the perfect course for you! It is designed for dogs that already know basic commands such as sit, down, wait, and come.
What you will learn in this class: We will build on the basic exercises and start working with distractions and real-life situations. New exercises added to this course include stay, heel, find it, fetch, some tricks, and walking as a group. This is a 5-week course, $160

What you will learn in this class: Sit and drop on command, no jumping on people, wait politely for food and going out, leave it (food, traffic, other dogs), hold and give a toy (polite manners around play time), walk without pulling, meet and greet people and dogs, recall from a distance.

This is a 4-week course, $140
