Weighing your pets is important when considering air travel for two reasons. 1. Animal transport crates have maximum weight limits. Knowing the weight (and measurements) of your pets determines the correct travel crate size for them. 2. Animals flying Virgin are charged per kilo for the combined weight of the animal and crate whereas animals flying Qantas are charged per kilo for the cubic weight of the crate in which they fly. Here are two very fine examples of show-quality Guinea pigs; an Agouti with hair and a Baldwin without! Agoutis have dark eyes and dark, base hair with contrasting tips in colours like gold, silver, or cream. The Baldwin has a Himalayan (or pointed) color pattern. These guinea pigs have pink bodies with dark points (brown or black) on their noses, ears, and feet, mimicking the coloring of a Siamese cat. How do you like your Guinea Pigs? What an incredible colour! This lovely little lizard flew from Orange, NSW to Toowoomba, QLD via an overnight in Sydney with Simone, our new Tail Travel agent. Although 'she' was meant to be a 'he', her new owner is very happy with her and now awaiting the delivery of a male from the breeder. Baby dragons anyone? Have a great day, your Tail Travel Team

Meet Rico. This gorgeous, gentle giant, flying from Adelaide to Alice Springs today, is nine years old. Travelling in a PP90, he required the biggest crate that we could successfully lodge on a plane for this route. Together, Rico and his crate weighed in at 62kgs. With a maximum animal freight weight limit of 65kg, we were delighted that the scales tipped in Rico's favour. Have a great day, your Tail Travel Team

Today, we are delighted to transport some guinea pigs from Hervey Bay to Melbourne for the President of the Cavy Council of Victoria https://www.facebook.com/CavyCouncilofVictoria. Pictured is Eramosa Nile Ravyn, the 2026 Best in Show Victorian State Champion. Ravyn is a "self black", indicating that this beauty doesn't have a single speck of another colour in its coat. Formed in 1962, the Victorian Cavy Council is the oldest in Australia. We'll be sharing more of their gorgeous animals with you over the coming weeks. Have a great day! Your Tail Travel Team

Have you ever seen one of these? This is the caterpillar of the venomous Australian Cup Moth. To quote Australian Geographic, "Turns out, the venom is made up of a whopping 151 individual toxins from 59 different families. Of particular interest is the toxic compound, cecropin, which is known to kill harmful bacteria and parasites that affect livestock."
