🐴 Stable Hand Position – Riviera Equestrian Park 🐴

One of our long serving team members of over 10 years is returning home, so we are looking for a reliable new team member to join our stable.

Duties include:
• Cleaning stables and paddocks
• Feeding and watering horses
• Rugging
• Handling Warmblood horses
• Administering oral medications
• Observing and reporting lame or unwell horses

Requirements:
• Horse handling experience is essential
• Ability to work independently
• Good observation and horse care skills

Shift Times:
Morning: 6:00am – 10:00am
Afternoon: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
(Winter hours: 2:30pm – 5:30pm)

Current shifts available:
• Sunday – AM & PM
• Monday – AM & PM
• Tuesday – AM
• Wednesday – AM
• Thursday – AM

(Some flexibility to swap shifts with existing staff may be possible.)

Above award pay rates with weekend and public holiday penalties applied.

Thank you to Dr Jon from Advance Equine Vets and Dr Tias Muurlink for coming out a couple of weeks ago for some minor surgeries.

🦷 Our oldest resident “Josh” had been off his feed for a bit, we didn’t expect it was his teeth as he had a dental only 5 months prior and were in good condition for his age (35) but we thought it was worth checking again and we found his teeth had become loose and very sore, hence the no eating. As you can see by his teeth there was not too much tooth root left holding everything together. Later that day he was out eating grass and has ate up ever since!

☀️ Melanomas on this horse’s tail and the surrounding area had recently grown and we were concerned they would cause issues in the future with his “daily motions”. Dr Jon removed the biggest of the lumps and will keep an eye on the smaller ones for any change.

🔬Keratoma - is a rare benign tumor of the inner layer of keratin-producing epidermal hoof wall cells that forms inside a horse's foot. This horse had presented with on going abscesses and intermittent lameness. Hoof X-rays were taken, which revealed a keratoma. A hoof wall resection was performed and the keratoma was removed. The hoof will grow down with time and the horse has an excellent prognosis.

So happy with our new treatment area and crush. Makes these procedures very easy and safe 🐴

💫 Arena Re-Surface💫

A big shout out to East Coast Equine Construction for adding the fiber surface to our existing arena. The difference it has made is incredible, the horses feel so light and airy being able to sit on top of the surface instead of sinking into the sand without any support. The only regret I have is that I didn’t do it years ago!!

🚜 ECEC are so easy to deal with and can upgrade your existing arena very affordably!

After over 15yrs we have decided to close the doors of “Riviera” as a Agistment centre. We thank all our clients for their support over the years. The business will take a new direction which will take over on August the 1st, 2021.

Hi All,
☀️Summer is upon us so if we can get our summer flags out, we have some up at the shop that I use as they are good fitting. Ripstops are to heavy and can’t breath, especially those darker horses really struggle and we don’t want them getting anhidrosis. Please pack away all winter rugs. We will be worming on Tuesday so no riding that day 🐴
