❄️ Keeping Pets Warm This Winter

As the temperatures drop, our furry family members can feel the cold too, especially puppies, kittens, senior pets, short haired breeds, and those with arthritis or medical conditions.

A few simple ways to keep your pets cosy this winter:

*Bring bedding indoors and keep it warm and dry
*Provide extra blankets or a cosy sleeping space away from drafts
*Consider a jacket for short haired or smaller pets on chilly walks
*Ensure fresh water is always available (yes, even in winter!)
*Keep up gentle exercise to help maintain mobility and joint health
*Be careful around heaters and electric blankets

If your pet seems reluctant to move, is shivering, or appears uncomfortable during the colder months, give us a call.

Stay warm and enjoy those winter cuddles ❤️

Saturday 25th April 2026 is World Veterinary Day 🐾

Tomorrow we recognise the dedication, compassion, and expertise of our RPV veterinarians. The people who work tirelessly to protect the health and wellbeing of our animals every single day !

Veterinarians are so much more than clinicians. They are surgeons, pathologists, diagnosticians, and trusted advisors, guiding pet owners through every stage of care with skill and empathy.

From preventative care to complex procedures, your work makes a meaningful impact every single day and we are so incredibly lucky to have you all!

Thank you for everything you do 💙

Following on from yesterday’s post… 🐾

Here are some helpful tips & tricks you can do at home to help prepare your cat for their visit:

💙 Get the carrier out early
Don’t wait until the day! Leave it out with a comfy blanket so it becomes a safe, familiar space.

💙 Make it inviting
Add treats, toys, or even spray with a calming pheromone to create positive associations.
If your cat isn’t used to the car, short gentle trips can help reduce stress on the day.

💙 Keep things calm
On the day of the visit, keep noise and activity low to avoid unnecessary anxiety.

💙 Use Fear Free medications (if recommended)
If your vet has prescribed something like Gabapentin, give it as directed. It really does make a difference!

💙 Bring familiar scents
A blanket or item from home can provide comfort during their visit.

Small steps at home can make a big difference in how your cat copes at the clinic 🐱

“He didn’t get his Gabapentin today…” 😾

We get it, vet visits can be stressful for our feline friends (and their humans too!).

That’s why we often recommend Fear Free medications like Gabapentin before your cat’s appointment.

💙 How it helps:
• Reduces anxiety and fear
• Makes handling and examination gentler and safer
• Helps us perform a more thorough check (which means better care!)
• Prevents that “traumatic vet visit” memory for next time
• Less stress for you, your cat, and our team

A calm cat = a better experience for everyone involved 🐾

If your cat gets a little spicy at the vet, chat to us about pre-visit medication options..... it can make a huge difference.

Because vet visits shouldn’t be something your cat dreads 💙
Not sure if your pet would benefit? Give us a call and we can guide you through the best options.
