This is gorgeous 10 week old Cocker Spaniel, Angus, who visited us recently, and we couldn’t resist sharing that sweet little face! 🐾

🐾 Happy Vet Nurse & Tech Day! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating our wonderful nursing team and everything they do for our patients, clients and clinic. 💚

From monitoring anaesthetics and caring for recovering patients to taking bloods, running diagnostic tests, preparing cytology and managing admissions and discharges, our nurses bring SO MUCH skill, compassion and care to every day.

Then there’s supporting our vets (a BIG one!), offering reassuring cuddles, cleaning up something questionable and juggling three things at once, usually while covered in fur! 😂🐾

To Jaimee, Eloise, Kath, Poppy, Dora, Jes, Mackenzie & Lauren: we see how hard you work, and we appreciate you.

We’re also celebrating our wonderful client relations team, Tilly & Jade, for looking after our clients, coordinating the daily logistics and helping keep everything running smoothly!

🐝 Spring brings plenty of curious noses into the garden, and sometimes a bee sting follows!🐝

A sting may cause sudden yelping, licking or pawing at the area, and some swelling. If you can see a stinger, gently scrape it away with the edge of a card. A cool compress may help with discomfort. Keep a close eye on your pet, as reactions can develop after the sting.

We recommend veterinary care if your pet develops facial swelling or hives, vomits, seems weak or collapses, or has any difficulty breathing. A sting inside the mouth or multiple stings also warrant a prompt call to a vet.

If you’re unsure how your pet is reacting, give us a call. 🐾

📣 October Public Holiday Closure

Rose Park Veterinary Surgery will be closed on Monday 5th October for the Labour Day public holiday.

We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 6 October.

Please ensure you have enough food and medication for your pets over the long weekend. If your pet requires urgent veterinary care while we are closed, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

🐣 Found a baby bird?🐣

Please pause before bringing it to the vet.

During spring, it’s common to find young birds on the ground. Many are healthy fledglings learning to fly, with their parents still nearby watching, feeding and caring for them. Removing them can sometimes do more harm than good.

If you find a baby bird:

* Observe it from a safe distance
* Keep children and pets away
* Avoid handling it unless it is in immediate danger
* Contact an appropriate wildlife rescue organisation for advice

Due to the current risk of avian influenza, please do not touch any sick or dead birds. Record what you see, take a photo if it is safe, and report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

If you have already collected a bird or believe it urgently needs veterinary care, please call us on 8364 4200 from the car park before. Our team will advise you on what to do next.

🐰 Happy International Rabbit Day! 🐰

Today we’re celebrating our clever, curious and wonderfully fluffy rabbit friends!

Rabbits are experts at hiding signs of illness, so even small changes in their appetite, droppings, behaviour or energy levels should be taken seriously. Regular health checks, unlimited fresh hay, suitable enrichment and proper dental care all help keep them happy and healthy.

Give your bunny some extra love today, and share a photo of them with us in the comments! 💕

🔥 Is your dog’s skin looking red, sore or irritated?🔥

Hot spots can seemingly appear overnight and may quickly become larger, painful and infected due to continued licking, chewing or scratching.

They can be triggered by allergies, flea bites, ear problems, skin irritation or moisture trapped close to the skin. Dogs that swim regularly or have thick coats may be particularly prone to developing them.

If you notice a rapidly growing, moist, painful or infected looking area on your dog’s skin, please contact our team to arrange an assessment. Early treatment can help prevent it from becoming worse and identify the underlying cause.

We’re running low on towels and would be very grateful for any donations from our lovely community.

If you have any clean, unwanted towels at home, please feel free to drop them into the clinic during our opening hours. Any size is welcome, but bath towels and hand towels are especially useful.
