Head over to our website blog page for ‘Your Guide to Choosing a Healthy Snake.’ (Link below) We want to help you reduce the risk of buying an unhealthy animal.

It is unfortunately impossible to guarantee that if you follow this guide you will never buy an unhealthy snake because as with any other animal, there might be a disease or issue going on inside the body that is not displaying any physical signs at the time of purchase. In this situation the seller is also unlikely to be aware of any issue with the snake.

However, what we can do is look for general signs of health to give you some confidence that you are taking home a healthy snake to the best of your knowledge at the time of purchase.

Check out the blog for how to make an assessment and what questions to ask before buying.

At Reptile Creative, we’ve had the absolute pleasure of hatching a number of Giant Rainforest Mantids (Hierodula majuscula).

After a couple of months of feeding, growing, and thriving, these vibrant little beauties are now ready to find their forever homes!

As adults, Giant Rainforest Mantids are truly impressive. With their vivid green coloration and commanding size, they’re a striking addition to any invertebrate collection. Native to the rainforests of northern Australia, this species is known for its hardiness and voracious appetite—making it a rewarding pet for those with a keen interest in mantids.

Did you know that not all reptiles are born from an egg?

Depending on the species, reptiles can actually reproduce with 3 different methods:

• Oviparous birth - external eggs are laid where the baby develops inside, feeding off the yolk for nutrients before fully forming and hatching.

• Viviparous birth - held in the womb where the baby develops inside the mother by using a placenta and/or umbilical cord during development.

• Ovoviviparous birth - held inside mum but the baby develops by feeding off an internal yolk before being born.

*The eggs pictured came from one of our oviparous bearded dragons!

In a world that’s constantly busy and always demanding more of us, carving out time to unwind can feel nearly impossible. We often live in a rush, and even the simple act of getting into the car and heading somewhere can feel like a chore.

But here’s the good news: your time in the car doesn’t have to be wasted. In fact, it can become a pocket of peace in your day.

Below are three simple, safe practices you can try while driving—no extra time required, no risk of distraction. Just small shifts that can bring a little calm to your commute and restore a little inner balance.

1. Practice box breathing while you drive - a powerful technique for calming your nervous system and regaining control.

Inhale for a count of four, hold your breath for four, exhale for four, hold for four. Repeat!

2. Hum! humming can be a powerful tool to soothe your nervous system. Music is optional—the magic lies in the hum itself.

Humming creates gentle vibrations in your throat, which can stimulate the vagus nerve and encourage a sense of calm.

3. Be in the moment. Next time you drive, really see what’s around you. Notice colours, sounds and movements. Every time your thoughts wander, gently bring your attention back to the present moment.

Try it. Drive with presence. You’ll feel more grounded—and you might just become a better driver too. Win-win.
