Paxterriers Aussies

Last weekend, Bruno, Bessie and I ventured to Geelong for the three shows at Geelong Kennel Club. We were fortunate to be offered shelter at the Show by Molly Ford and her Aussie girls, Penny, Maggie, and Gemma. All the dogs showed their hearts out and shared the honours for points over the weekend. The highlight for me was my Bessie (Ch. Galtamac Queen Bess at Paxterr) winning Puppy in Group under Aussie Terrier expert judge, Diane Riley from New Zealand. I am grateful for Diane who spent time with me after the judging to give feedback on Bessie's performance and offer advice on what I needed to do to improve her showing. Diane is highly respected amongst the Aussie Terrier breeders so I listened very carefully to what she had to say. Here are three photos taken on the day by professional photographer Owen McLachlan. My beautiful Bessie is now an Australian Champion!!

I received Bessie's new pedigree certificate in the mail today. Last Saturday she earned the final points she needed for her Australian Championship title. Having just turned 10 months of age, she is now Ch. Galtamac Queen Bess at Paxterr (AI).

Sincere thanks go to my friend and fellow Aussie exhibitor/breeder, Molly Ford from Bannockburn in Victoria. Mollie bred the litter from which I chose Bessie. Bessie's mother was the beautiful "Penny" aka A20 Gr. Ch. CIB. Gr Ch. Paxterr Queen's Gambit. Her sire was the equally handsome, "Samson" aka US Ch. Dunham Lake Faithful Warrior.
My deepest gratitude goes to all those involved in this breeding but especially Molly Ford (Galtamac Aussies) and Theresa Goiffon over in Wisconsin USA (Dunham Lake Australian Terriers) You are both "the best"!!

Highlights from the Australian Terrier Club of SA Specialty Show held at David Roche Parke, Kilburn, SA on Friday, 29th May 2026

Last weekend, 28th to 31st May, Bruno, Bessie and I participated in the Dogs SA Winter International set of Shows as well as the Terrier Club of SA Specialty Show and the Australian Terrier Club Specialty Show. There was a large entry of Aussie Terriers in all six shows from NSW, Victoria and SA. I am delighted to say that Paxterr Aussies did exceptionally well; both Bruno (A20 Ch. Gr. Ch. Paxterr Pants on Fire) and Penny (A20 Gr.Ch. CACIB. Gr. Ch. Paxterr Queen's Gambit [owned by Molly Ford]). The highlights for me were Bruno winning Best in Show in the Australian Terrier Specialty Show, getting the Dog Challenge and his fourth CACIB Certificate (thereby qualifying for his CACIB Award) in the CACIB Show on Friday and Best of Breed in the Terrier Club Show on Saturday. I could not have asked for better results (OK, maybe Best in Group!) Here are some photos taken at the ATC Specialty Show on Friday.

Paxterr Aussies had an enjoyable couple of days at the All Breeds Dog Club Championship Shows last weekend, 18th and 19th April. On Saturday, the competition was very keen with a total of seven Aussies competing. I am pleased to say that our new girl, Galtamac Queen Bess at Paxterr, won the Bitch Challenge on the Saturday AM show and both shows on Sunday. Bruno, aka A20 Ch. Gr. Ch. Paxterr Pants on Fire, had a quiet day on Saturday but won two Best of Breed awards on Sunday together with a Best in Group 4 on Sunday afternoon under judge, Ms Lyn Brand from NSW. Big thanks to all the judges on the weekend. Thanks also go to Sheryle Pike, with whom I shared a gazebo all weekend. This was an opportunity for me to listen and learn from an experienced and successful dog fancier. It was also wonderful to enjoy the company of Cerrie and Barry Gower as well as Wendy Sullivan-Quin and their beautiful Aussie terriers. Finally, huge thanks to Bessie's breeder, Molly Ford at Galtamac Aussie Terriers.
