Tonight we had Rue, Nurse Emma's dog in for her receptionist trial shift 🥰

She did not answer a single phone call, refused to serve clients and whined how bored she was! 🙄

Can't say she's likely to get the job, but luckily she's cute ☺️

WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN!
August is dental month so we are taking 30% all our dental procedures!! 🪥 🪥

Does your cat or dog have smelly breath? 😷🤢
This could be a sign of dental disease.

Dental disease is one of the most common health problems in our pets, but it's one that's often unnoticed until it's advanced.

When left untreated, dental disease can lead to painful infections, loose or missing teeth, not to mention the huge amounts of bacteria entering their system spreading to vital organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys. Just because they're still eating, doesn't mean it's not painful.

Regular dental checks and professional cleans, combined with good home dental care such as brushing, dental diets or treats can help keep your pet healthy, comfortable, and smiling for years to come 😸

We’d love to see you and talk about how we can help.

Please phone one of our friendly team on 8287 4300 to book an appointment and have our Vets perform a dental examination and an estimate for treatment will be provided.

🐕 DOG AND CAT REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW DUE 🐈

Since 2018 it has been a requirement for all cats and dogs, over the age of 6 months to be desexed and microchipped.

Not only does desexing aid in reducing unwanted litters, it also reduces the chances of hormone driven behaviours such as marking/spraying, roaming and fighting, but early desexing reduces the chances of mammary tumours and prostate cancers along with removing the chances for uterine infections. Early desexing is often cheaper due to animal size and weight and can be a faster, less risky anaesthetic.

It also saddens us to see how many cats and dogs, let alone strays come to us without microchips. It makes it near impossible for them to find their way back home when lost.

Here at Midway and our fellow ANVG clinics (Elizabeth Park and Salisbury) we always endeavour to try to keep our desexing prices affordable for all, all the time, not just random desexing special months.

For more information or to make an appointment, please call one of our clinics.
We encourage you to get your dogs and cats desexed and microchipped before time runs out and you have to pay higher registrationfees or you receive fines! Council registrations are due 31st August

Ping Ping loved the nurses and the nurses loved Ping Ping.

Here at Midway we are all for ensuring our patients stress levels are kept to a bare minimum. I think the belly rubs and kisses worked a treat before Ping Pings lump removal and dental scale procedure

😿 NOT ONE MORE VET 😿

We wish that we could say that this doesn't affect us, but we'd unfortunately be lying. Each and every one of our Vets, Nurses and support staff have at some point been on in the firing line of an unhappy, abusive pet owner, whether it be over the phone, over the reception desk of in the consultation room.

We understand that your pets are your family, your stand-in children, your emotional support. We all have pets too and it breaks your heart when they're unwell. This is exactly why we are all in this industry. To love and care for all animals.

Our Vets have all undertaken around 7 years of University to become a Vet. It is also an ongoing requirement to complete further education and studies to maintain a licence to practice Veterinary medicine. Our team is often at home wondering about your pets and whether they're ok. The Vets are often liaising with our other Vets on difficult cases, using their lunch breaks or own time to research complex diagnoses. We don't always get it right 100% of the time. This does NOT excuse any kind of abusive behaviour to those trying to assist.

🥰 This is a cause that we are continuing to raise awareness of. None of our beautiful Vets, caring Nurses or empathetic support staff deserve it.

Did you know that all it can take is one interaction with another infected cat to contract a preventable and incurable lifelong disease?

What are we talking about?
FIV - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (also commonly called Feline Aids)

FIV is a transmissable virus, spread through the saliva and blood of an infected cat…the most common route of infection is through fighting or mating with an infected cat, meaning that just one simple slip and access to the outdoors, a usually inside only cat is also at risk.

This virus supresses the cat’s immune system, which means it cannot fully protect itself against common bacterial and viral infections. There is no cure, only medication to manage the ongoing symptoms of this lifelong illness.

Symptoms can include:
🚫Unwell
🚫Weight loss
🚫Weakness
🚫Mouth sores
🚫Recurrent infections

🩺How is FIV detected??🩺

Our wonderful vets can diagnose FIV with a thorough examination and a simple blood test that detects antibodies to the virus.

Early detection is important to ensure your cat’s health is monitored and to prevent the infection from being passed onto other cats.

To ensure your cat is protected, FIV vaccinations are our only option. The initial course consists of 3 injections given 2-3 weeks apart. Following this is a simple booster each year, which we can align with their yearly vaccines.

We currently have a generous offer running to help protect more of our feline friends.

For June and July, call to book in for the initial FIV Vaccination and you will receive the 2 booster Vaccinations completely FREE!!

Today we had the pleasure of looking after Bonnie who came in today for a lump removal surgery. She was lapping up that gorgeous afternoon sunshine and enjoyed sniff testing all the nurse lunches afterwards, all while getting all the attention. I mean... with that sweet face, who wouldn't?
