🐾 Enrichment Visits – More Than Just a Walk 🧠✨

Got a long workday or heading out and worried your dog will be bored or under-stimulated? That’s where Enrichment Visits come in.

Enrichment visits are designed for days when owners can’t walk or spend much time with their dog. Instead of a standard walk, these visits focus on meeting your dog’s mental, physical, and emotional needs.

We go beyond walking by targeting your dog’s natural genetic drives through carefully chosen activities, both in and out of the home. This may include:

🐽 Sniffari adventures in new locations (weather permitting)

🧩 Food puzzles and problem-solving games

🎯 Breed-appropriate enrichment activities

🌿 Calm movement and exploration

🌡️ Most importantly, enrichment visits are a great alternative to walks during hot weather, helping keep your dog safe while still fulfilled and satisfied.

🦋 MEET MAISIE 🦋

Maisie started her journey with Ears Up Dog Training as a tiny puppy 🐾

Over the past year we’ve worked on lots of skills, but our biggest focus has been building positive associations with handling — especially at the vet. After a few early vet visits that were a bit overwhelming, we got cracking on a training plan to help Maisie feel safe and confident.

Maisie’s dedicated carers have put in the work every single week, practicing handling and preparing her for vet visits.

Most recently, Maisie went in for her annual check-up and vaccinations… and didn’t even flinch when the needle went in 🎉

Huge thank you to the wonderful team@adelaidevet_ for the multiple “mock” check-ups leading up to the big day — teamwork really does make the dream work ✨

2026 will be the year I post more on social media… I hope 🤣

So to start, I want to share some of our amazing clients from 2025 🥰

🌿 MEET SUNDAY 🌿

I first met Sunday in January 2025 after she was newly adopted by her wonderful carers. She was reactive on walks, very scared of people entering the home, and found the world pretty overwhelming.

With careful management, foundation training, and lots of daily enrichment, Sunday slowly began to feel safe. Our first session was very slow — but by session three I was getting tail wags and cuddles.

With ongoing support (including vet behaviourist ), Sunday has made incredible progress. Today she has doggy friends, greets humans, loves outings at Petbarn, and recently celebrated her gotcha day with a house full of family 💛

🎄 MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM EARS UP 🎄

✨ What a year 2025 has been! We couldn’t have done it without all of our amazing clients 🐾

✨ This year has been filled with many enrichment visits, including species-specific games to work those brains, Bunnings trips for socialisation, hikes and walks, training sessions, beach trips, and so much more!

✨ We’ve welcomed many new clients focused on creating stronger bonds with their dogs, setting them up for success, and working through some of those tricky behavioural challenges in our Individualised Canine Coaching Sessions.

✨ We’ve been super busy with our dog-sitting service (mainly Jess 😉).

✨ We had an amazing time working with RSPCA South Australia, running plenty of dog training classes and watching so many clients realise just how fun training can be—and the incredible potential their dogs have 😍

✨ We’ve worked with, supported, and trained many rescue dogs this year, while also supporting their foster carers and doing everything we can to set these dogs up for successful adoption &ClawsAdoptionsInc.

✨ We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting some fantastic future industry professionals while running a couple of workshops with RST.

✨ And of course, the best part has been seeing how far all the dogs we work with have come—thanks to the dedication and commitment of their humans. Because at the end of the day, dog training is about supporting both ends of the lead.

🐾 So thank you to all of our amazing clients for your trust and support this year. We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store 🐾

🎅 On that note, January is booking fast, so get in early if you’d like to start training in the new year! Ears Up will be closed for the break until the 6th of January, but we’ll still be checking emails 🥰

🐾We LOVE working with rescues, consider adopting this Christmas and reach out to us at Ears Up Dog Training to help you set up a settle plan and set your new family member up for success ✨️

If you’re bringing a rescue dog home this Christmas, please consider this… a new home at any time of year is a huge adjustment for a rescue dog … but Christmas adds layers of noise, visitors, routines changing every five minutes, and emotions running high.

For many rescues, that’s not “magical”… it’s stressful. Your new dog might freeze, hide, pace, shut down, vocalise, guard food, or struggle with handling. None of this means you’ve made a mistake. It means they’re coping the only way they can.

So this Christmas, advocate for them by giving them what they actually need 👇

💕A decompression plan – quiet spaces, predictable routines, no forced interactions.

💕Choice and consent – let them approach when they’re ready; never hand them to strangers.

💕Realistic expectations – settling takes weeks or months, not days.

💕Calm environments – limit visitors, reduce noise, keep things steady.

💕Safety first – management, secure boundaries, muzzles (make sure they are muzzle trained first) baby gates, long lines etc.

The biggest kindness you can offer isn’t festive excitement… it’s being the guardian who protects them from overwhelm, advocates for their boundaries, and supports them as they learn that your home is safe.

A rescue dog doesn’t need a perfect Christmas. They need patience, protection, and a guardian who truly sees them. 🫶

⭐️ MEET AMBER ⭐️

🐾 Amber lives in Murray Bridge and has always had a passion for animals, she finally discovered her love for working with dogs during work experience at a doggy daycares.

🐾 She shares her home with two gorgeous Rottweilers, Rylee and Kyla(pictured), as well as her baby Luna the cat.

🐾 Amber is currently studying her Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training due to finish December and already holds a Certificate III in Animal Studies.

🐾 She can’t wait to support families both in town and out of town with dog walking and enrichment visits, bringing her passion for behaviour and welfare to every pup she meets.

🌷 Elsie's Training 🌷

🐾This gorgeous mixed breed girl has been working incredibly hard over the last few months with her mum 💕

🐾In today's session she showed some incredible progress walking past barking dogs behind fences and not reacting or running in the opposite direction!

🐾 Instead she kept on sniffing and trusted her mum to have her back 👏🏻

To say I am proud of this training team is an understatement 😍
