These are the updates that make our hearts VERY full. 🥹

Billy, formerly known as Gotta Lockheed, has absolutely landed on his feet in his wonderful home. From trail rides and Nav rides to the Anzac Day Parade, RDA and learning groundwork — he’s certainly enjoying his life after racing!

One of the biggest parts of our rehoming process is finding the right match. Seeing Billy and his owner thriving together is a beautiful reminder of why we take the time to get to know our applicants and what they’re looking for.

Thank you for the beautiful words and, most importantly, for giving Billy such a varied and loving life after racing. 🤎

This is my Billy (aka Lake - racing name - Gotta Lockheed) in May. We did our first Nav ride that day. Billy is a kind and gentle soul and a quick learner. I could not be happier with this beautiful horse! When I first made enquiries Chantelle asked me to fill in a long questionnaire, which established what I could offer the horse and what I was looking for in a horse. It was well worth doing because Chantelle was able to match us up together perfectly! Billy has taken me on many trail rides, three Nav rides, the Anzac Day Parade, he takes participants at RDA and he is learning about groundwork too. He is calm sensible and helpful. Chantelle and Andrew are doing a fantastic thing to help so many horses find their new lives after racing. I can’t thank them enough! And I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for their next equine friend ☺️

We have a lovely selection of Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds currently looking for their next chapter. 🤎

🤎 WOODY — 2019 Standardbred gelding, approx. 15.2hh.
A chunky, good-doing fellow with a great work ethic. Walk and trot established, learning to carry himself in a lovely natural frame and would make a super trail, dressage or Standardbred show prospect.

🌸 NOVA — 2021 Standardbred mare, approx. 15.1hh.
A sweet, easygoing girl with walk and trot established and minimal pace. More of a plodder than a worker, she isn’t looking to break any speed records! Can be a little looky but isn’t reactive or spooky.

💙 BOBBY — 2021 Standardbred gelding, approx. 16hh.
A genuine plodder in the making! Sensible, confident and not spooky, Bobby has shown us a lovely relaxed attitude out and about. He is happy to have a canter and then come straight back onto the buckle and particularly enjoys getting out on the trails.

💛 CHARLIE — 2022 Standardbred gelding, approx. 14.3hh.
A smaller, chunky type with a soft mouth and lovely natural way of carrying himself. Walk and trot established with a few canter strides under his belt. Best suited to an experienced, confident home to continue his education.

🤠 COWBOY — 2013 Standardbred gelding, approx. 15.2hh.
A capable boy with walk, trot and canter nearly established in the arena. He can start off strong before settling into his work and is best suited to an experienced rider. He’s even completed a 20km endurance ride!

🧡 TONY — 16.2hh, 2019, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding.
A super chilled, easygoing boy with all three gaits established. Tony has been out to the forest, where he has shown himself to be confident and sensible. He is happy to plod along on the buckle but will step up when asked, enjoys a canter and has happily gone over logs. A lovely versatile type with plenty to offer his next home.

🤎 BRUNO (formerly known as Supercharged) — approx. 15.1hh, 2019, Standardbred gelding.
A striking, compact boy by Art Major with plenty of presence. Bruno is a comfortable, fun ride who is brave and confident when out and about. Can walk/trot/canter. He enjoys getting out into the forest, loves going over logs and has a great work ethic. He has no vices, is a good doer, sits around the middle of the pecking order and is currently barefoot.

✨ EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – BRUNO ✨

Our very handsome Bruno, formerly known as Supercharged, is now open for Expressions of Interest! 🤎🐴

Bruno is certainly a striking type with plenty of presence about him. He is a lovely, solid fellow who has been progressing beautifully through his education with us and continues to show a fantastic work ethic.

Bruno has now completed his first forest outing, where he gave us a great opportunity to see what he is like away from home. 🌲

He has a little pep in his step and genuinely seems to enjoy having a job to do. He is a comfortable, fun ride with a brave and confident nature. He is forward-thinking and willing, while still listening to his rider and taking everything in his stride.

And one thing we discovered very quickly… Bruno LOVES a canter! 😂💨 Once he finds that canter button, he is more than happy to cruise along and seems to think that's the best part of the outing!

He also really enjoys going over logs and fallen branches along the trails. 🌲🪵 He approaches them confidently and seems to love having different things to do, which makes him a really enjoyable horse to take out. His willingness, bravery and work ethic give him plenty of potential for someone wanting a horse they can get out and have some fun with.

Around home, Bruno is an easy keeper and a good doer, currently barefoot and has no known vices. He sits around the middle of the pecking order with his paddock mates and is straightforward to have around.

His general care is all up to date, including his teeth, feet and worming, so he will be ready to head into his new home with all the basics taken care of. ❤️

With his looks and presence, we could absolutely see Bruno stepping out in the Standardbred show ring, but we also think he has plenty of potential as a fun all-rounder. Whether that's trails, forest adventures, pleasure riding, shows or popping over some logs, Bruno seems happiest when he has a job to do.

Bruno is not quite ready to leave us yet, as he will be completing one more forest outing as part of his program. However, we are happy to begin taking Expressions of Interest now to find the right match for him.

He is still a relatively green horse in his life after racing and will suit a capable rider who can continue his education and enjoy his forward, willing nature.

✨ EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – TONY ✨

We think this big chestnut boy is going to catch a few eyes! 👀🧡

Tony, formerly known as Quik Rhapid, is a 2019 Thoroughbred gelding standing at approximately 16.2hh.

Sire: Ilovethiscity
Dam: Grand Rhapsody
Tony retired sound from racing in April 2026.

Since joining SSR&E, Tony has already completed his first forest outing and really impressed us with his attitude. He is not a hot or spooky type and is quite happy to plod along on a loose rein, but will step up and work when asked.

Personality-wise, Tony is an absolute BIG SOOK 😂❤️ He is very much a live-in-your-pocket type who loves attention and being around his people. He’s a big, sweet and affectionate boy who would happily soak up attention all day.

Tony is currently barefoot and is bottom of the pecking order in the paddock. He gets along well with other horses and certainly isn't one looking to cause any trouble amongst his paddock mates.

Tony still has one more forest outing to complete as part of his education with us, so this is currently an Expression of Interest only while we continue getting to know him.

As always, we believe in being completely transparent about our horses. Tony's near-side fore fetlock isn't the prettiest cosmetically due to his racing career. It has been assessed by a veterinarian and he has been cleared for life after racing prior to arriving at SSRE. He retired sound and has remained comfortable throughout his work with us.

At this stage, we see Tony making a lovely pleasure horse for someone wanting a big, affectionate Thoroughbred to enjoy and continue educating. 🧡

Welcome “Shellac” to Silver Shadows Rehoming & Education!

This gorgeous boy has officially joined the SSRE crew, and seriously… how striking is he?! 😍

For now, Shellac will have some time to settle in, get to know the routine and begin his journey into life after racing. We’re looking forward to getting to know him and seeing what he has to offer under saddle.

💕 REHOMED – ZARA 💕

This one is a little extra special. 🥹

Zara was acquired personally by us back in January 2026, shortly after retiring from racing. She very quickly showed us what a lovely mare she was, and in February she even came along to the State Championships, taking in the whole experience so well so soon after finishing her racing career.

From there, Zara was given plenty of time to simply let down, settle and adjust to life after racing 🌿

She has since enjoyed getting out and about, including trips to the forest, where she showed us just how much she enjoyed her new, slower-paced life.

And now, Zara has officially found her forever home. 🏡💗

Even more special? She will become the FOURTH SSRE horse to join this wonderful family! There really is no greater compliment than having a family come back to us time and time again to welcome another Silver Shadows graduate into their lives.

We are so excited to watch Zara begin this next chapter and know she is going to a home where she will be very loved.

✨ REHOMED – JUNIOR | A VERY SPECIAL MILESTONE! ✨

Our gorgeous boy Junior has officially found his life after racing home, and he’s heading all the way to TASMANIA! 🐴 🛥️ 🏡

Junior has been with us for a few months, allowing him plenty of time to let down, fill out and work through his education. From his first rides with us to heading out into the forest, he has shown us what a lovely, genuine boy he is.

But Junior’s rehoming also marks a pretty incredible milestone for Silver Shadows Rehoming & Education…

🇦🇺 We have now officially rehomed horses to EVERY state and territory in Australia! 🇦🇺

With Tasmania now ticked off the list, our Silver Shadows graduates have found homes right across Australia — something we are incredibly proud of. 🥹❤️

From little old South Australia to homes all across the country, it’s pretty amazing to think just how far our horses have travelled to find their people.

Congratulations to Junior’s new owner! We cannot wait to follow his next chapter and see him enjoying his new life in Tassie. 🤍

❤️ PERSONAL EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – AMBER ❤️
Formerly known as Lively Shadow

This is one of those posts that isn’t particularly easy to write, but with the need to reduce our personal numbers, we have made the decision to put some feelers out for our lovely girl Amber.

This decision is through absolutely no fault of her own. Amber is a genuinely lovely mare who has done everything we have asked of her, and finding the right home where she can continue to be enjoyed is incredibly important to us.

Amber is a beautiful chestnut Standardbred mare standing approximately 15.2hh. She is a lovely, well put-together type with plenty of presence, beautiful manners and a kind nature.

Formerly known as Lively Shadow, Amber retired sound from racing in March 2025 and has spent the time since gaining plenty of life experience outside of racing.

Over the past 12 months, Amber has regularly attended shows in-hand, she has been with us since December 2025 and was shown previously to us, she has had plenty of exposure to travelling, busy environments, other horses and everything that comes with a day out.

She has also been shown under saddle, first in March 2026 and again just a fortnight ago. She is a comfortable ride and has been a lovely mare to get out and simply enjoy. More woah then go type of girl.

Amber has also had an outing to the forest, where she was led from another horse, allowing her to experience another completely different environment away from the show ring.

On the ground she is an absolute pleasure. She has lovely manners, is easy to handle and floats well. She gets along beautifully with other horses and is generally at the bottom of the pecking order, and is okay to be alone.

She is currently barefoot, her teeth are up to date, and she has been a straightforward mare to have as part of our family.

A 2017 bay, standardbred (ex-trotter), gelding, standing at approx 16.3hh.
Formally known as “Lovelorn”.

A sweet man, who is by Love You (France) and out of Sparks Ignite.

Sparky had 91 starts for 12 wins, 11 seconds, 11 thirds and a total of $61,831 in prize money.
