I spent a lovely afternoon with Missy, Katie from KB Horsemanship and Ruby from Holistic Horse Wellbeing as we discussed all things bodywork! Missy was a perfect demo horse while Katie and Ruby watched her session and asked in-depth questions about the conversation I was having with her body. It was really helpful to be challenged to verbalise sensations which I normally just allow to flow ❤️

I really enjoy mentoring sessions with other bodyworkers as they find their own personal methods and philosophies.

Mel Fleming is one of my most favourite horse-humans. Through her I have developed the foundational ability to first acknowledge the spirit of the horse. From there so much magic has found its way into my personal philosophy. I highly recommend placing yourself in her energy field ;)

I can’t tell you what it felt like to watch those aircraft drops over and over and over , for literatlly hours, to hold strong and bucket tiny amounts of water onto spot fires by the house and livestock as the big wind swung around and 30 odd ground units stood like an army between us and the fire coming down from the back country hills.

And to be able to find moments much needed rest in the heat wave that followed, knowing every flare up was jumped on and put out within minutes.

I wish I could thank each and every one of you.

This is the certification I studied in 2025 under Dr Raquel. I highly recommend it, I shopped around asking equine professionals in aust to guide me towards the best possible foundation for equine anatomy and muscle function for body work and whole horse support and this was the course that was the clear leader in the field. Dr Raquel is an extremely gifted teacher and has a deep body of knowledge to accompany her delivery.

Not all certification courses are created equal ❌

In the world of equine and canine body work, the word “certified” gets tossed around a lot, but a certificate alone does not automatically mean "qualified."

At Equinology, we are passionate about academic precision. Our body work education is not an online crash course that can be completed in one weekend (and our students around the world will back us up on this!).

💜I am proud to be the Australian and NZ Instructor for Equinology

Here, it is a rigorous, science-based journey built on anatomy, biomechanics, mentorship, and hands-on practice.

The curriculum is evidence-based, anatomy driven and goes far beyond an 'Intro to massage" training.

It is a comprehensive program designed to support various learning styles - incluidng online pre-study, extensive onsite practicals, and post course externship practice

The course covers ethics, best business practices, and documentation

Equinology graduates are recognized worldwide because they have done the work, from detailed online anatomy study to intensive in-person training and 250-hour externships, all guided by highly qualified equine professionals.

The course is globally recognized and approved by major associations- RACE, AAVSB, ETAA, NCBTMB and more!

We take a whole-body and team approach with evaluation of gait, conformation, structure, movement AND collaborate with vets/trainers.

Knowledge is your most powerful tool. If you're ready to raise the bar for yourself and your career, explore our certification at equinology.com!

A picture that speaks volumes...

As many of you know, there was a pretty hectic bushfire in Nangkita on the weekend. Not many of you know that it kicked off at the beautiful property where my boy Bronzie is agisted.

His amazing caretaker Katie of KB Horsemanship didn't even have time to grab her phone. She opened internal gates, threw a saddle on one of the three horses, grabbed the other two horses' leadropes and ran them to safer ground. She threw the saddle on the ground, shoo'd the horses onwards and escaped in her waiting boyfriend's car.

This is the saddle she came back to the following day. We were fully prepared to find the horses in a similar state.

Throughout the fire we were dependent upon CFS reports, the very cool team of Katie, her boyfriend and the property owner Zina's view from the Mt Compass pub (until that was evacuated), and the tenacious Paloma and her fiance who somehow got through police blockades to watch the fire unfold. Meanwhile there wasn't anything I could do aside from sitting at home waiting for the all clear to get into the area with a torch and start looking for horses.

Thanks to Paloma accessing the property against all odds (and pregnancy advice), we found out that evening that our horses were, incredibly, unharmed. She also returned the following day when the property was still throwing up spot fires to help us transport the horses to cleaner air, thanks to the hugely generous Maddie, who in addition to a safe haven supplied horse trucks, towing vehicles, and did a care drop of fresh stock water, soft hay in case their mouths were burnt, ice boots and herbal anti-inflammatories. And Lisa the Wondervet who got back to us so quickly on a Sunday night with important information for our horses' care!

The fire burnt right up to the house and the paddock fence through olive orchards. I have an aerial view showing how the surrounding landscape burnt black, sparing the house and main paddock, which I haven't shared in order to protect the lovely property owners' privacy. I can only imagine the huge emotions they are feeling right now.

Katie needs to share her own story (and training philosophy) in her own time, but I have no doubt that the daily walks she took the 3 horses on as a herd exploring the property were to thank for their navigation through thick smoke to the safest areas, at one point doubling back over burnt ground to return to the burning olive groves beside the remaining unburnt paddock, where I have just discovered my client's angel of a partner Simon who happened to be on CFS duties bravely caught one and led them through a cut fence to safety 🙏

A huge thank you to everyone who stepped in and supported our little team during this time, especially the amazing CFS, police and other emergency services. As well as my Nangkita clients who checked in on us and each other ❤️

This photo serves as an eerie reminder of the impermanence of all things. I feel so much gratitude to our amazing horsey community, and for our safe healthy herd who clearly still have important business to attend to on this Earth!

Vale Duckduck ❤️🦆

PS. Katie's sister has started a GoFundMe to help Katie buy a new saddle if anyone would like to get involved :)
