The mare posted win number two of her career today when successful at Murray Bridge Racing Club for local trainers Alexander Brothers Racing.

The mare was a $70,000 purchase at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale and took the lead a long way out before fighting strongly to hold her rivals at bay.

Our Story

Steeped in racing tradition, the Alexander racing dynasty dates back to Gary's father Duncan.Duncan Alexander was a leading light-weight jockey in South Africa. Gary made a point of accompanying his father when ever the opportunity arose, it was inevitable that Gary would take out his own trainers licence.

In 1982 Gary was granted his training license by the Jockey Club of Southern Africa, and went on to establish a world-class facility at Turffontein Racecourse. Gary has trained over 1500 winners to date, which includes over 100 group and listed race winners. Gary received a special achievement award from the Racing Association in 2006 and in 2012 he was awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Racing Association.

Gary was voted trainer of the year in 2000 by the Racing Association when he won no less than 13 Group races in that season. Gary has finished third on the National Trainers Log three times. and this is testimony to the fact that he has a competent team backing him up.

Dean Alexander is Gary's younger brother and business partner; Dean holds a business degree as well as an assistant trainers licence. Dean was appointed a Steward at the Vaal Turf Club in 1990 and thereafter was appointed a steward at Gosforth Park Turf Club a position he held until the clubs amalgamated to form Phumelela Gaming & Leisure Ltd. For the past thirty six years Gary & Dean have been a formidable team. "OUR COMMITMENT IS TO IMPROVE OUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND TO BREAK RECORDS CONTINUOUSLY"
