So Bailey has been "off" recently and I went in to full blown panic mode! We are coming up to a year since discovering there was an issue. After being told, palliative care/surgery are the only options I feel like I'm in a state of permanent worry. Without surgery, he was given a month and with sugery 12 months.

So i booked him in for another CT scan, we were planning on re-scanning October time anyway, so it was only a little earlier than planned. He had the scan on wednesday day and I was later informed that there has been minimal change.

This is amazing, fantastic news but I still worry and cant let my guard down. Bailey also seems back to his normal self and hasnt shown me any further signs of discomfort.

and the fight continues ....🐾🐾

So, Bailey has been doing really well. He has been holding at 33kg for the last few weigh-ins and basically is his normally happy active self! We've continued with the immune therapy (I will post a link to an article following one of the dogs on the first trial) This immume therapy seems to work very well on lymphoma and mass cell, I don't think they have had a dog in any trial with intestinal adenocarcinoma.

Our plan is flexible based on what happens and flowing the guidance of our amazing vets but we will re-schedule another CT scan in a few months time and from there we should be able to see any changes. The only other option was to open him up again and I dont want to put him or me through that, not at this stage!

His surgeon did note that another operation could be possible on the bowel, when we initially thought it wouldn't be. I guess that's a positive but then the more bowel that's removed the more long term issues bailey may have but I guess that's a decision for later, if at all!

So for now we will continue with his diet, supplements and immune therapy 🐾🐾

Bailey update: πŸ•

So he has actually dropped a little weight and is now holding at 32kg. He had been knocking on 33kg! But I reduced his in take and I'm trying to keep him between these two numbers

We decided to CT scan again to give us an inside view of what's going on a month after his immune injections stopped and 6+ months after getting the initial diagnosis.

He had this scan on wednesday and I received the results yesterday. In true Bailey style, it's never straight forward and he didn't fail us again on the scan πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

The good news:

NO evidence of metastatic spread
Previous intestinal surgery, NO other change seen

The not so good news:

Thickning at the main surgical site, similar to his previous cancer BUT this could also be related to just the surgery.

A fluid filled structure seen, more likely a cyst. Origin unknown.

So, whilst this wasn't the news I was expecting or wanting. On reflection I am comfortable with the outcome and what we have been doing and ecstatic that at least no spread has been seen with this type of aggressive cancer!

What's next πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I want to continue with these immune injections and our amazing Vets are going to send his results off for a second opinion on what, if anything we should do with the cyst like structure.

So we go on fighting

It's been a while since I've updated Bailey's journey. I booked a photo shoot with the amazing Kat to capture some lovely moments in time of me and my boy. Highly recommended Kat, she did an amazing job since Bailey is a typical V and doesn't sit still πŸ€ͺ

He is still doing well and we have one more jab to go before we scan again. He has, however shown some very small signs it may be back (we were told it was very aggressive)

For now we are continuing with supplements and raw diet, focusing on anti inflammatory foods/sups. And just of course enjoying our time with him and these beautiful these photos 😍
