Okay but how’s the puppy dog eyes 🥹

In a lesson with 13-week-old Minty, we covered all things puppies, including building a strong reward marker, laying foundations to prevent separation anxiety and reinforcing calm behaviours.

We also worked on socialisation (which doesn’t just mean meeting other dogs!) and even had a really positive experience with thunder and rain during our session ⛈️

Did you know dogs have a critical learning period up until they’re 16 weeks old? What they experience and how they experience it during this time has a lasting impact and shapes how they view the world. Getting it right is so important to set them up for long term success.

And Minty is off to such a solid start 🖤

“Hey Moose, say CHEESE” 📸

Moose’s Walk and Learn lesson was all about building his confidence around cars. To help make outings easier for his owners, we focused on creating positive associations, and by the end, Moose was happily walking past the car, staying calm when doors opened, and even showing interest in hopping inside.

We also worked on rear end awareness, “paws up” and got some steps and sniffs in for his day whilst his owners were at work.

✨Crate training ✨ often gets a bad name… but when it’s introduced the right way, it’s life changing for both you and your dog. Put it this way, you’ll never think, “I wish I didn’t crate train,” but you WILL wish you started sooner.

Here’s why we love the crate so much:
 • Teaches calmness and an off switch, helping dogs learn to settle • Supports toilet training and routine building • Builds confidence and independence, reducing separation anxiety • Creates a safe space to relax • Makes travel, vet visits and recovery that much easier
 A crate should feel like their bedroom, not a cage or form of punishment. When done right, your dog will want to be in their crate because it feels safe. And the truth is, at some point in their life, they’ll likely need to be crated so let’s make it a positive experience. It’s not something that happens overnight, but once your dog understands it, you’ll never look back. I’m here to help you every step of the way 🧡

A horrible few days. 💔

On Sunday night, Spartacus was attacked by another dog who got out of their yard through a hole in a fence, whilst we were on a walk. He had to have surgery to put his stomach back together and is very bruised and battered. By far the worst thing I’ve ever experienced but so lucky that there wasn’t more damage and he’s now at home recovering.

So grateful for the amazing vets at The Austin and Golden Grove Vets4Pets for looking after him so well.

And thank you to all my lovely clients for understanding and rescheduling. For now, I’m on babysitting duties (with lots of cups of tea), but I’ll be back next week. ❤️‍🩹
