Released on May 29, 1984, Private Dancer became the breakthrough solo album that transformed Tina Turner into a global superstar. The album was her fifth solo studio release and her first for Capitol Records, marking one of the greatest comeback stories in music history.

Packed with hit singles including “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “Better Be Good to Me,” “Private Dancer,” and “Show Some Respect,” the album blended rock, pop, and soul into a timeless classic. “What’s Love Got to Do with It” became Tina’s first and only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her three Grammy Awards.

The title track “Private Dancer” was originally written by Mark Knopfler for Dire Straits, but the band felt it worked better with a female vocalist, leading to Tina’s unforgettable version. The album sold over 10 million copies worldwide and earned Tina Turner four Grammy wins, cementing her legendary comeback in the 1980s.

Released on May 29, 1987, Bigger and Deffer (better known as BAD) was the explosive second studio album from LL Cool J and a landmark release in hip-hop history. Issued through Def Jam and Columbia Records, the album showcased LL’s confidence, charisma, and versatility, helping turn him into one of rap’s first mainstream superstars.

The album featured the massive hit “I’m Bad,” one of LL’s signature tracks, along with “I Need Love,” widely considered the first commercially successful rap ballad. The success of “I Need Love” proved that hip-hop could embrace emotion and vulnerability while still dominating the charts. Other fan favorites included “Go Cut Creator Go,” a tribute to his DJ Cut Creator, plus tracks like “Kanday,” “The Do Wop,” “My Rhyme Ain’t Done,” “The Breakthrough,” and “The Bristol Hotel.”
