Happy Vet Nurse Day from North East Vet Clinic! 🐾💙

Today we’re celebrating our incredible vet nurses and all the amazing work they do — not just in front of clients, but behind the scenes every single day.

Vet nurses are the heart of the clinic. They do so much more than people often realise, including:

🐾 caring for hospital patients
🐾 monitoring anaesthetics during surgery
🐾 assisting with procedures and treatments
🐾 preparing medications and equipment
🐾 cleaning, sterilising and setting up surgical areas
🐾 comforting scared or unwell pets
🐾 helping with blood tests, x-rays and diagnostics
🐾 supporting our vets and the whole clinic team
🐾 keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes

…and that’s only to name a few things!

Their compassion, skill, patience and dedication make a huge difference to the lives of pets and their people every day.

To our amazing vet nurses — thank you for everything you do, both seen and unseen. We appreciate you more than words can say. 💐🐶🐱

Happy Vet Nurse Day!

🌸🐾 SPRING IS HERE – AND SO ARE THE PET HAZARDS! 🐾🌸

Warmer weather means more time outside, blooming gardens and plenty of exploring for our pets — but spring can also bring a few hidden dangers. 👀

Keep an eye out for:

🐍 Snakes – warmer weather means snakes are becoming more active. Keep dogs on leads in bushy areas and check your yard regularly.

🐝 Bees & insects – stings can cause pain, swelling and sometimes serious allergic reactions.

🌾 Grass seeds – these sneaky little seeds can become lodged in paws, ears, eyes, noses and skin. Check your pet after walks!

🌸 Toxic plants & flowers – some common garden plants can be dangerous if chewed or eaten. Lilies are especially dangerous for cats.

🤧 Spring allergies – itchy skin, red paws, excessive licking, scratching or recurring ear problems can all flare up at this time of year.

🪲 Fleas, ticks & parasites – warmer weather means parasite activity increases, so make sure your pet’s prevention is up to date.

☀️ Warmer days – never leave pets in hot cars and make sure they always have access to shade and fresh water.

🐕 More adventures = more injuries – trips to the park, beach and backyard zoomies can mean cuts, sprains and sore paws, so keep an eye out for limping or wounds.

🌼 Spring is a wonderful time to get outside with your pets — just remember to keep them safe while they enjoy it!

If you notice anything unusual or are concerned about your pet this spring, contact North East Vet on 7221 1939. 🐶🐱💚

🏉🐾 GRAND FINAL DAY! FREO v BRISBANE 🐾🏉

It’s set to be a big day of footy, food and celebrations — but make sure your pets don’t end up needing an unexpected trip to the ER! 🚑🐶🐱

Keep an eye out for:
• 🍫 Chocolate, lollies and desserts left within reach
• 🍗 Cooked bones, skewers and fatty BBQ scraps
• 🍺 Alcohol and unattended drinks
• 🧅 Onion, garlic, grapes, raisins and other toxic foods
• 🗑️ Full bins and food wrappers curious pets may raid
• 🚪 Open gates and doors when guests are coming and going
• 📣 Loud cheering, music and fireworks that may frighten anxious pets
• ☀️ Pets becoming overheated during backyard celebrations

Set your pet up somewhere safe and comfortable, keep tempting snacks out of reach and make sure gates are secure before the game starts.

Enjoy the Grand Final and may the best team win! 🏆🐾

R U OK? 💛🐾

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder that a simple conversation can make a big difference.

The veterinary industry is a profession built on compassion, dedication, and caring for animals and their families. While we love what we do, the emotional challenges of veterinary work can sometimes take a toll on our mental wellbeing.

Whether you're a veterinarian, veterinary nurse, receptionist, animal attendant, pet owner, or someone supporting a loved one in the industry, today is a great opportunity to check in with those around you.

💛 Ask the question: "Are you OK?"
💛 Listen without judgement.
💛 Encourage action and support when needed.
💛 Stay connected.

Sometimes the smallest gesture—a phone call, a message, or a chat over a cup of coffee—can remind someone that they are not facing things alone.

At North East Vet Clinic, we encourage kindness, understanding, and looking out for one another, not just today but every day.

If someone you know has been having a tough time, reach out. A conversation could change a life.

💙 A Happy Review from One of Our Wonderful Clients 💙

Nothing makes our team happier than knowing we’ve helped make a visit to the vet a little less stressful for both pets and their families.

We recently received this lovely message from Alwyn’s family:

"Thank you so much for seeing Alwyn today and being so patient and kind whilst we worked through his annual vaccination. We hope that his new medication will help to make the experiences of going to the vet and having his haircut less stressful. Thank you again – we travel to see you because you are so understanding of his needs."

Thank you, Thomas and Cerys, for your kind words and for trusting us with Alwyn’s care. It was a pleasure seeing him the other day, and we loved having the opportunity for a photo with Dr Bahaa! 🐾📸

Every pet is unique, and we are committed to providing compassionate, individualised care to help make each visit as comfortable as possible.

We look forward to seeing Alwyn again soon and helping him continue to have positive veterinary experiences. ❤️

🐾💙 Happy Father's Day! 💙🐾

Today we're celebrating all the amazing pet dads who provide endless love, care, treats, walks, cuddles, and belly rubs to their furry family members.

Whether you're up early for morning walks, sharing your favourite chair with a sleepy cat, throwing the ball one more time, or making room on the bed for a snuggly companion, your pets appreciate everything you do (even if they don't always show it!).

From all of us at North East Vet Clinic, we'd like to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads, granddads, stepdads, and pet dads in our community.

We'd love to see your favourite photos of you and your pets—share them in the comments below! 📸🐶🐱

Have a wonderful day filled with wagging tails, happy purrs, and plenty of special moments with your furry family members. 🐾❤️
