🐾 WE’RE HIRING – EXPERIENCED DOG DAYCARE ATTENDANT 🐾
Westford Co Golden Grove is looking for an experienced, confident dog professional to join our team ASAP!
We’re currently looking for someone who can hit the ground running. While full training will of course be provided in our procedures, routines and expectations, this particular position requires someone who already has a strong foundation in dog behaviour, body language, group management and force-free training.
⚠️ This is not an entry-level position.
🐕 ABOUT YOU
You’ll ideally have significant hands-on experience working with dogs in a professional environment and be confident:
• Reading dog body language, including subtle signs of stress, discomfort, over-arousal and escalation
• Assessing healthy and appropriate dog-to-dog play, with an understanding of MARS
• Managing a group of dogs safely and proactively
• Recognising when intervention is needed before situations escalate
• Redirecting inappropriate or over-aroused behaviour
• Using basic training skills and positive reinforcement within a group environment
• Encouraging and reinforcing calm, appropriate behaviour
• Making confident, sensible decisions independently in a busy daycare environment
❤️ OUR PHILOSOPHY
Westford Co Golden Grove is proudly force-free, and this is non-negotiable.
We do not use fear, intimidation, physical corrections or aversive handling to manage dogs.
We’re looking for someone who doesn’t simply agree to follow a force-free policy at work, but genuinely shares our philosophy and understands why the emotional wellbeing of the dogs in our care matters just as much as their physical safety.
If concepts like consent in play, displacement, reinforcement, redirection, capturing calm behaviour and proactive management are already part of your vocabulary, you may be exactly who we’re looking for! 🐶
📩 HOW TO APPLY
Please email your resume AND a cover letter to [email protected]
In your cover letter, please briefly tell us:
• What professional experience you have working with dogs
• What you look for when assessing whether play between two dogs is healthy and appropriate
• How you would manage a dog becoming over-aroused during group play
• What force-free dog handling means to you and why it is important
• Why you would like to join the Westford Co Golden Grove team
Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
This is intentional — we want to hear from you, understand your experience and make sure our values align before progressing to the next stage.
🐾 Immediate start available for the right person.
Think you could be a great fit? We’d love to hear from you!
Please share or tag an experienced dog person who might belong on our team. ❤️🐾
