Ricky Gervais may not be everybody's cup of tea but... you've got to love him for this 🥰

What an absolute legend!

Ricky Gervais turned his comedy tour into a £2.43 million gift for animals, his biggest donation yet. The money was shared between 22 animal charities around the world. 🐶🐻💛

The cash came from extra profits on premium seats for his Mortality tour, which played more than 80 arena shows. PDSA, International Animal Rescue, Celia Hammond Animal Trust and Animals Asia got £150,000 each, with 17 more charities receiving £100,000.

Nowzad, which helps animals in Afghanistan and Ukraine, received the remaining £132,000. The donation beats the £1.9 million he gave from his Armageddon tour, taking his recent giving to animals past £5 million.

Can help to give Slim a loving home?

I paid $26 for poo bags that looked eco-friendly. Now I check certification, not the colour.

Here's the distinction I'd keep beside the shopping list:

❌ Treat a green packet or leafy logo as proof.
✅ Look for a specific compostability claim backed by independent certification.

❌ Assume missing certification wording proves a bag is plastic.
✅ Treat the claim as unverified until you can check the material and supporting evidence.

❌ Assume a compostable bag belongs in your council's organics bin.
✅ Check whether your local service accepts both the bag and dog poo.

I learnt the expensive way that a reassuring packet isn't enough.

Save this and check your current poo bag packet before buying another roll.
