Newcomers Q&A:
"What is the benefit of having a personal puppy trainer as opposed to a traditional puppy school?"
The following are just a few reasons why I prefer and offer one on one coaching & puppy training:
🤍Being able to discuss your personal questions (in privacy and without judgment) also not having to wait your turn and being able to train in your own time.
🎓If you are breezing through the lessons, want to prepare your puppy for a sports career or already are an experienced dog owner, we can switch to the advanced material earlier and you don’t have to wait for an advanced course to start.
Puppy classes are held in groups; there is often far less time for the individual, also for this type of teaching to be efficient, it needs to promote more of a "one size fits all philosophy", instead of adapting to your individual needs.
🤍Being able to train comfortably in all weather conditions - Personal training sessions can be held in the comfort and safety of the puppy’s home.
Save your puppy unpleasant traveling experiences: if you don't have a car or your puppy doesn't enjoy / hasn't learned yet how to travel by car or public transportation, it might be quite stressful for your dog to travel to and from a puppy school, since they are usually in a remote place.
And as we all already know - a relaxed brain is far better at learning and retaining new information than a distressed one.
🎓So, couldn’t you just wait until your puppy gets older and attend a puppy school later? Maybe; but why lose precious time while waiting?
Time is running and some of the opportunity windows to learn and unlock certain behaviors are closing by the time your puppy gets 3-4months old.
Disclaimer: there may be a great benefit in group puppy classes for some dogs too. It just depends on the individual dog / human, which type of learning environment is needed. For puppies under 4 months and novice dog-owners I would recommend a personal coaching first, before entering a group puppy class.
